Such as Hydroxicut, Stacker 2, etc. I've seen good and bad testimonials. My thoughts are, since they suggest a diet and exercise plan along with them then thats really all you need to do in the first place. How do they work?

the markets r full of diet suppliments, pills they function differently some work on ur nervous system like reductil snd some on ur physiological level, xenical functions in ur bowels. check the net for details on how they function. yes they do have effects but there r side effects too. i'm on reductil now and loosing weight, but not in a consistent manner, my body is sooo exhausted and it is very hard to quit them -dependance- also they r making me more depressed every day...any one without self destructive tendencies will not use diet medication, will accept his extra weight and loose it in a healthy way (i wish I was like that)

Weight loss pills are widely advertised as quick method to lose weight. These are food supplements and are not regulated by the FDA or any authority. Some weight loss pills may help you lose weight for a short time, but after a month or so, the body becomes immune to them.

Proper eating habits and regular exercise is the basis for everything.

The pills will actually speed up your metabolism slightly.Caffeine actually caused your body to burn fat before carbs. There is no panacea that is being sold today. The combination of aspirin, caffeine, and ephedrine worked well. Too many people abused ephedrine and ruined it for everyone using it sensibly. Maybe they should make tobacco illegal. I think a few more people died of tobacco abuse than ephedrine.

The problem with pills that curb your appetite once you don't eat enough food in about three days your body goes into starvation mode and actually wants to store fat and burn muscle. Eventually you gain the weight back but your body fat percentage is higher than when you started and your metabolism is much slower. ( See Oprah Winfrey.)

In conclusion, you answered your own question. Its not a diet its a lifestyle change with your eating habits and proper exercise. That will work long term.

A great book is Body Rx by Dr. Scott Connelly is a few years old but very relevant.Buy it on Amazon.com used for about $3. I make all my clients read it.

Now you're coming around. Why spend the money when most of the benefit comes from diet and exercise? I've been on a simple diet of mostly raw vegetables (don't say yuck, my salads are delicious), low carb, low fat, low sugar, and lost 30 lbs in the first two months, 15 in the next three, and have been cruising at my 'ideal' weight for three months, now. Here's a great site with all kinds of healthy ideas: http://www.chetday.com

'nuff said?

Placebo effect? I have no experience with such pills really, but if you do exercise and have a reasonable diet - that would be quite enough to successfully lose weight.
