You would probably need to have proof of the bite, ie. having had medical treatment for it and reported it to the police. (In some places this can be done online). When you've got all that then look into claiming. And for those of you who think the poor dog will be penalised and not the owner, this rarely happens. I was pulled off my motorbike by an unruly alsation and had to have treatment for the bite, (only the bite). I reported it to the police who investigated. It turned out the owner was illegally breeding them in a council flat in terrible conditions. His dogs were taken away and he was prosecuted. The dog that bit me was taken by the police to be trained as a police dog and the others were all re-homed by animal charities. No dog should be allowed to get away with a bite. Action taken early against the owner will give the dog a better chance of halting it's anti-social behaviour either through re-training or re-homing.

Are you sure you really wanna make a claim. There are far too many dogs been put down for biting when it isn't there fault, it's the irresponsable owners, the way there brought up and the people making claims when it's there fault.
Pleeeeeeeese really think about this
It upsets me soooooo much!

This depends on what state you live in, or what state you were in when the dog bit you. Check your state's statute of limitations. I know that in Missouri where I live, the statute of limitations on personal injury is within five years of the injury. Your state may be different, as most are.
Look up: Civil Procedure and Limitations on the internet and you should get a link to your state's info on this.

For personal injury claims against the owner of the dog that bit you, the statute decrees THREE YEARS FROM WHENCE YOU KNEW YOU COULD CLAIM. Accoirdingly, unless the incident occurred more than three years ago your time limit now starts to run.

It depends on the state I believe. Most will have a statute of limitations on certain claims. I believe here where I live it's 2 years but I would also have to have proof (ie pictures).

Depends on where you live and what proof you have that a particular dog bit you. The more witnesses and documentation (like hospital records) the better. Call a lawyer.

In my state, a small claims case has to be brought within 5 years. It varies from state to state and you should check with your state and local laws.
