D'know. I've seen that in some statues. I don't know what that represents. Buddha was skinny by the time He began a following, so the statues that show Him as fat just symbolize fertility and plenty. It's an Asian thing, I think. I haven't had the chance to ask an Asian Buddhist about that yet.
Hmmm, you know what they say about guys with big ears.....

His ears are shown long in pictures and statues because it gives a message to people to listen more and talk less.

Siddartha Gautama ("Sid", the Buddah) started out life as a prince. He had the whole princely nine yards full of riches, wealth, servants, gardens, castles, etc. One of the things that princes of his day wore were earrings--REALLY HEAVY ONES.

These earrings gradually stretched out his earlobes. He wore them from childhood until early adulthood, when he finally left his father's house to become an ascetic. He gave up the earrings, but the "stretch marks" remained for the rest of his life.

It's just a certain way of depicting him, it doesn't mean that he actually had long ears. He didn't have a big belly, either, he was a monk and ascet, they usually don't eat very much.
