The only advise I can give is to be very careful, when our Flatcoat had a similar thing at about 1 year old I took her to the vet. The vet gave her antibiotics which made the situation worse it ended up with ear damage and she was deaf. She lived a happy life until she died at 12 fortunately before she went deaf I had been training her for field trials so we just continued with hand signals for the rest of her life.

You should be able to buy something at your local pet store to treat it.

If you are worried about the toxicity of the chemical used in the ear mite medicine, you can take equal parts of vitamin E oil and Olive Oil. Mix them together and rub in on the inside of the ear and over the canal. This would need to be done every day for 4 weeks. It's very important to continue for 4 weeks to make sure any eggs that were laid in his ears have hatched.

Both oils smother the mites but the vitamin E oil is to help with the redness and inflammation.

No. You really should take him to the vet. You might find something for ear mites in a pet store, but its best to diagnose before treating something. And with all the scratching, if he has opened the skin there is risk of infection. It would be best for him if a professional has a look

Poor puppy! He needs to go to the vets straight away. It does sound like he has ear mites or a fungal infection and you need effective medication to treat these condtions which you can't get without going to the vet. Make an appointment immediately.

You can help your puppy by bathing the flaps of his ears in cold water. Make sure you don't get any water down the ear canal, though.

I reapet see the vet immediately.

You can go to the pet store and buy ear wash or ear mite drops to treat your pup or use some of the methods listed already here and continue to watch your pup suffer and risk having him go deaf or you can take him to the vet to find out exactly what the problem is and treat it correctly. It's your call.

well my first thought would be to take him to the vet, other than that, go to the store maybe and get some neosporen, it's a pain medication rub, you can get it over the counter, try putting that on the red places in his ears twice a day, and see if that works, if not, try maybe a tick medication, it could possibly be ticks, these products can be found at walmart, walgreens, and major grocery store. I hope this helps, and good luck, i know the poor thing must be miserable.

Take him to the vet - that is the only way you are going to find out what is wrong and be able to stop him being uncomfortable. Please think about how you would feel if your ears were itching madly all the time.

Sorry to say it but you really should take him to the vets before he ends up with an ear infection if he hasn't got one already.

my mum's dog gets it. Take it to the Vet, they'll give you some ear stuff you have to drop in the dog's ear. Mind you, they hate it so bit of a two man job!
