The bible says do not forske the gathering of his people, and by me that is the most easy way to get more understanding from the bible so please please please go back to church it is good for your soul and spirit and don't worry about the people, God is with you always and HE will tell you what to say and do even if you haven't been in church for 8 months. When people start asking you this, just look them straight in the eye, say, "I'm not sure why, I stopped, but I sure am glad you kept praying I'd be back" hug their necks and proceed to your sit. And when they have the real audacity to say something like "Oh, how wonderful to see you back in church" Just say, "well, it's wonderful to see you here too." Christian busybodiness is just a much a sin as prostitution in the temple courts - so, go to church with your head held high - the only one you have to truly answer to is Christ -and - you don't have to be haughty with your answers, just quiet and subtle as though you never missed a day. I'm a preacher's daughter and my Dad used to really preach at the "regulars" about when a sheep returned to the fold that people better not be attacking, but reaching them with nothing more than a hug and a "I'm so glad to see you today." Everyone likes to be glad to be seen and get a hug and that way no one is having to explain their absence, which is a concern of only the one who has been absent and the Lord. So, don't just forget it - if the Holy Spirit is convicting you to return, by all means return - just know that you returning because you've something to learn - but don't let those who haven't yet learned how to have finesse in Christ sour you.

Think for a minute or a week. Decide why you go to church in the first place. If your church friends are not willing to accept you back, no questions asked, then why you are doing it anyway? Church should lift you up, not tear you down.

do not worry what they say sista, follow ur heart.
that church belongs to all not just for them
and if they ask tell them u prayed at home.
and by the way they should not question u for not going to church.
do u know why? it does not matter where u pray the important thing is u pray.
if some 1 gives u jeeper keepers then just shun them and walk off. do not bother about man, man will keep finding fault one way or other. but follow ur heart and follow God. that is best for u

Perhaps, deep down, you are realizing that church is kind of silly. For the most part, it is just a social occasion.
I'll let you in on a secret... There really are no gods. It is all myth. The guy preaching in the church is just pulling most of his stuff out of an old book written long ago that really doesn't apply to the modern age and pulling the rest out of his head. It's easy to see why you feel disconnected with the church. It's because the church has outlived its purpose.

Well, if there's no reason why you stopped, why invent an unnatural one now??
Get on your scooter, on your bike, call for a ride with someone else, walk or drive off to church and enjoy what you once had the chance to ... but forgot what it was all about.

If you would like to go back to your church then swallow your pride and go because you go to church to worship your god not to please the members of your church, it is your fault you have not been going and the funny feeling you get will go away with time. Always remember what does not kill you makes you stronger.

If you want to go back, go back. You should not feel obligated to answer "Why" if anyone should ask. You could simply say "No reason".
If they are an open and loving church, they should welcome you back without a big deal.
If they hound you as to why, or start lecturing you, well... you probably don't need to be around those kind of people anyway. They are missing the point of their own message.

If you even have to asked this question, then going back to church won't do you any good.. You go to church because you want to, not because you have to.

Forget your past absence to the church. Start visiting regularly. No harm in doing it. When you get peace of mind in church or in such a place, better you visit there often and often. It is not a sin.
