You are right, God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are not the same thing.
Joh 20:17 Jesus said to her, "Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers and say to them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"

Actually, this is a very hard concept for MANY people-even mature Christians- to grasp. If you look at Genesis 1 you will find that the in the Begining God created. Now, the three were all present when the world was created. We find more proof of that in John 1:1 where the word "word" is in reference to Jesus. If you are reading it, just replace word with Jesus. God is the father, Jesus is the son and the intercessor or one who can take your petition to God while the Holy Spirit is the applicator of the means of grace among other things. He is the one who gives you your desire to learn, grow or understand things. Also a fallable picture of the three is the pharmacist, doctor and nurse. The Doctor is the one who sees your problem and prescribes the solution. The pharmacist provides the medication and the nurse injects it. The Doctor represents Jesus, the Pharmacist God and the nurse the Holy Spirit. I don't like to correct people, but some of your answer needs some time in the scripture. It's not an easy explanation, but if you really want to know, I recommend you go there instead of a forum like this. Hope this helps.

When you speak of God and Jesus and the holy spirit, there are only 2 persons, 2 minds, in this mystery. How? God is the holy spirit.
2Cor.3:17 Now YHWH/Jehovah is The Spirit, and..
Ephesians 2:22 In union with him you, too, are being built up together into a place for *God to inhabit by spirit.*
Isaiah 42:1...I have put *my spirit* in him...(God said)
God and the Holy Spirit are the same, it is One person, the concept of the trinity is false on this basis alone.
God cannot lie and he said:
Matthew 3:17b "This is MY SON, the beloved, whom I have approved, listen to him. (about Jesus)
Jesus is his own person with his own mind. His brain, or thought center is not joined to the Father. He said that he teaches all the Father TAUGHT him. John 5:19,20
John 12:49 ..I have not spoken of my own impulse, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a commandment as to what to tell and what to speak. (said Jesus)
Mark 12:29 Jesus answered: "The first is ,'Hear O Israel, YHWH our God is one YHWH.'"...

This is a Jehovah's Witness teaching and is not Biblicallly accurate. The Jehovah's Witnesses use a purposefully corrupted bible, The New World Translation, that changes all the teachings concerning Jesus deity.

They are not the same! Jesus was a man who probably existed whereas God and the Holy Spirit are just figments of the imagination.

Nope, God is imaginary (like Chuck Norris), Jesus is fictional (like Walker, Texas Ranger) and Holly Cow is a goat.
