With cheap drink from supermarkets, online purchasing and unscrupulous landlords what would be the best way to stop under aged drinking?

How are you gonna stop people from smoking weed, speeding in their cars and all the other illegal sh*t? You can't, our government makes rediculous laws and half of them creat more of a problem. If you tell a teenager they can't do something, they're just goin to wanna do it more. If you got rid of the legal age I bet most of the minors would try it a couple times then get over it.

maybe the answer to this question is that the answer to what happens to supermarkets or shops or chemists, if they sell more than i think its 16 paracetamol or that could be 32 actually the can now be fined up to a massive fine, and loose there licence because off so many overdoses on paracetamol the law says that supermarkets or shops or chemists cannot sell more than 32 paracetamol.

why no doing it for under age drinking like the law being brought out that id must be shown for everybody even those who are legally allowed to purchase Alcohol and drink it!!!!!!!!

another way which would probably help is by allowing the parents for the kids to have the occasional drink in the home, my parents did for me and my sister, and to be truthful with ya i wasn't really interested in it and going to pubs and even to this day still not a great big drinker

I dont think a 16/f having a drink now and again is a problem, but i do think binge drinking is.

The only ways to stop binge drinking is to mkae the seller responsible, say a standard fine of £5000 for any drink sold to an underage person.

I dont think we need id cards to do all this, we have passports, driving licenses.

The idea is if the person looks under 35 to ask for id, women will love it.

Its not hard NOT to sell someone a drink, it is hard to get the seller to be responsible.

I also think that kids found drunk in public should be breath tested, and if found to contain any alcohol, they should be stuck on a curfew.

This wouldnt stop the hard line kiddies, but it would stop all the silly ones, and maybe, a bit of fear of god might make them never take it up..

For all of you who say that anyone under 21 shouldnt drink, well wrong. The USA has the highest drinking age of any nation, men and women not able to buy a beer are going to war and getting shot up. Lower the drinking age to 19, alcohol would become less of a taboo item meaning less people would experiment with it.

Supermarkets and off-licences now have the under 21 rule, if you look under 21, you will be asked for ID. ID cards are issued by the council, and it saves us making a mistake. We can have an on the spot £80 fine if we serve minors and we don't get paid enough for that!

Bigger fines for the idiots that sell to them.

If I caught my children drinking I would go nuts but hopefully I have brought them up the right way so they dont do stupid things like that

Most children are the way they are because they parents don't give a toss.

But on the other hand alot of parents can't stop there children from drinking because they are so determined they will just do it anyway

Make it law for EVERYONE to be ID'd could be a start, no matter how old they look. Maybe a link between places where alcohol is sold and a national database with everyones age and their fingerprint, the point of retail would need a fingerprint scanner. Sounds drastic but it may be the only way!

Get children drinking small quantities from an early age, I always tried my parents drinks, and they'd let me have small (very) of liqueuers and stuff to try. I always hated it and didn't get into drinking until I was well over the legal limit! Isn't that how they do it in Europe and they don't have a big a problem as us

Why stop it? In Europe, it is customary for children to be introduced to alcohol at a very young age; as soon as they begin to show an interest in it, in fact. Often they take one sip, pull a horrible face and say it tasted very bad,
Wine and water, or cider and soda are common drinks for older children.
Alcohol isn't treated as taboo, so children grow up accepting it for its recreational value.
The more you make something secret and exclusively adult, the more children will blow it up out of proportion and then you get the problems.
Unless you are an alcoholic yourself, let your children have a taste of your alcohol. Most will hate it. If they like it, allow them a water-wine cocktail at dinnertimes.
Very civilized.

There is not really a way to stop it. They will get it one way or another , either from purchasing it illegally or getting an adult to buy it for them. There are also alot of kids who drink mouthwash for the alcohol content and there is not a way to ban that
