In order for God to create Everything, he would have to start from a position separate from Everything….wouldn’t that make him nothing?
I mean here you have this big empty distinct lack of anything, called God. And he says let there be light or whatever…then he proceeds to make planets and ants and nebulae and catfish and amoebas and lilacs and suns and mountains, etc.
So where once you had nothing (i.e. God), now you have this whole big wondrous amazing Everything.
How could God create something more wondrous and complicated than himself—something bigger and better than what was there before?
If God created something ‘better’ than himself, wouldn’t his creation then become God leaving him behind to sulk?
So it makes more sense that God did not create everything, but that God IS Everything…God is the only thing that is…..and we are all a part of God…. so why can’t we all just get along?
Be your own God….create your own world exactly as you want it. That’s why we’re here.

This is not an ignorant question (as insinuated by the first response). Let's just define *eternal* : Infinite duration; continued without intermission; ENDLESS.
OK, with that out of the way, let's get back to the point. Yes, the whole concept is mind boggling. Humans are not meant to comprehend it, because our brains lack the capacity.
I will choose a strange metaphor for this one. OK, here we go...
Think about scientists and doctors who perform studies on the effects medications have on a human's mind and body. During these studies, the placebo effect is almost always examined. When these studies are concluded, those who have taken the real drug vs. the placebo often have similar side effects and/or positive responses to the medications. The only explanation is that the mind is capable of more than anyone can comprehend. A simple sugar pill (perceived as a drug) can make a person's reaction similar to those who have actually taken the drug.
There is no true answer to your question, because it is above human comprehension. I believe in science and spirituality. Between the two, our universe has somehow managed to come about.

If you go out and read the book of Judas (his evangile) that was just printed and released this year... there is a part where Jesus speaks to the apostles and tells them that the God they believe in and whom they praise is jsut ONE god... the God that created the material world (the one we live in...AND the universe). By creating the material world he also created all the sins...
Jesus was in fact saying that our earthly Gods (from all God worshiping religions) do not look up to the God that created everything... but the God that created our reality. In other words... this force isn't the Ultimate God... but rather a specific force derived from it...
And i know some Texans are gonna get pissed when they read this .... lol

First off, I do believe In God ( with a capitol 'G' ). You ask "how was God created"? You, nor any other mortal has the insight to understand or comprehend how God came into being.
He says he's Alpha and Omega, which I believe, so 'He' was the beginning and 'He' is then end.
There's no answer to your question that would satisfy anybody on Earth, nor any Entity in Heaven.

No need to confuse yourself in this because there's nothing boggling about it.
Explanation is simple. Before anything else existed, GOD was already there... that is the reason why He is called GOD.. He is the source of everything. In fact He is the beginning and the end, whether you believe it or not.

It's hard to imagine that somthing has no beginning and no end.
The thing with faith is that it's about believing, and not questioning and trying to find reasons and rational explanations. That is why I don't really get along with religion, I'm a person who needs rational explanations and ocular proof (as Shakespeare would put it). I try not to think about that, because it will in no way improove the quality of my existence.
You like Tool? My favorite album is Lateralus... :)

You're definitely onto something. I resonate to the concept of eternity, meaning that there's no beginning and no end, just a mysterious, timeless, stillness that you can tap into if you're aware enough, from time to time. Time itself is a thought construct because we live in a phenomenal world. Yes, seasons come and go, but they are only the reflection of a supreme intelligence that manifests itself because it is so procreative. Peace.

These kinda questions are cool cause they stretch your brain, but I always give up in the end... anything that demands comprehension of the infinite from a brain that exists in so many finite ways is seriously tough to deal with...
The irony of it all is that the only person who could have an infinite brain and therefore truely understand the answer is God himself...

When we are here on earth we lose all memory of our past lives and the other side. The "beginning" is something the human brain can't begin to ponder because here on earth we are born then we pass on. we really can't wrap our mind around eternity.

God is Energy!
Energy can not be created or destroyed.
Being perfect energy he could exist forever and forever with out a creation.
At some point he in his perfection wanted more than to just exist.
