Abraham, Noah, David.. They are more than characters but real people.
I was once very much like David, a man after God's heart. (We are both a Sanguine-Melancholic in temperament.) I remember the days when I always sought Him & shared my joy & would run to Him & hide (in Him) when afraid.
But oftentimes/lately, I see myself as King Saul. Anointed by God but NOW, heart has been filled with pride, anger..

What about you? Who was it that when you read/remember the character, you'd say, "Hey, I'm like him/her." ?
(eg.. Abraham who left his country, was given a promise & later, was asked to sacrifice his son)

I have been both the prodigal son and the father who welcomed the son home back home again (even though I am a mother) I have played the role of both. For when I was young I went astray and so have my children. I have been at times, David a man after God's own heart and I have been blessed over and over by God, that I know that I am the apple of HIS eye. I have lived a little like Job, and went through things which God brought me through the other side, happy that He walked with me. I think God has bragged a little too much about me and Satan heard it. It didn't matter God was with me.

I think I'm most like David, because most of my life I've been fighting my Goliath--called "Life."

However, lately I've learned to meditate, so I have learned to accept things and not fight anymore. I just observe my thoughts and emotions; and the less I struggle against my Goliath, the more I gain.

Joshua...

Although I am female I see myself as Joshua, with a little bit of the apostle Paul thrown in there.

John, because he writes so much about love (agape, spiritual love), to "his little children".
