I think at 9 months, the best learning period is over and they would not be interested in investing the time needed to remedy poor training.

I think you should get a book on training it. German Shepherds are actually very intelligent and among the easier dogs to train. But the police need an aweful lot from a dog and they have a budget to work within. I don't see them wanting to spend any extra time and money.

the police and mod take german shepherds from the general public.

But before you give up see a trainer - and have a lesson with them.

I am 5"2 and weigh just over 9stone. I manage to walk and control 4 large dogs on my own. This is because they are well trained.

If you want to get rid of the dog, take him to a dog shelter where he'll be re homed. You can always make out you found him as a stray so theres no come backs.

I know the local police station round my way no longer take in dogs at all.

And if its training you want, look in the yellow pages for a company or place that does it.

I took a Dog from the police ! she was considered a bit too small for training but, she already had some training, was a shep mix. GREAT DOG, took hand signals (would creep along the ground in the prone position) very cool great dog, I cried like a baby when I had to put her down, I have loved all of the Dogs that I've ever had but, there's always that "Special one", Triscut was that special one !

A well-trained dog makes everyone happy, including his owner. Take a little time training him, and you'll never regret it; you'll always have an obedient dog by your side. Find more https://tr.im/dYN6o

By their nature, dogs are pack animals with a well-defined social order. Through basic training, you need to consistently make sure your puppy understands that you are the leader, not him. So in teaching him the basic rules, you take on the role of pack leader.

To fit into the family circle, your dog must be taught to recognize his name and such commands as come, heel, lie down and sit.

They will do but i have heard if they are trained and don't make the grade they have to be put down because they can no longer be released back into society once they have had this sort of training, the best thing you can do is try the rspca.
You really should of taken him to puppy classes from the early stages to get over this problem

I'd ask the RSPCA or the Police directly about this. The Armed Forces also have Police dogs. I hope he finds a happy home wherever that may be.

Yes the Police do take german shepards, you must phone their
K9 unit and they will even collect the animal. You may also phone the Institute for Blind Dog training and they will even collect the animals
