like the previous posts pronounced, it relies upon of the province/state. In Quebec, each and every college makes a decision if their pupils could placed on a uniform or no longer. We used to all have uniforms whilst the catholic church became in cost of training (till now Nineteen Sixties) besides the undeniable fact that it slowly disappeared. interior the final 5-10 years, some public faculties began to hold back the uniforms via fact they realised it may shrink violence (exhibiting whitch gang/style they belong) and intimidation (wealthy with intense-high quality clothing vs damaging). i'm uncertain approximately that yet in Canada, it may even have some thing to do with the Canadian shape of rights and freedom. I interior the 80s, 90s faculties have been scared approximately being sued beacuse they does no longer permit people placed on in spite of the fact that they decide for, yet because there is been a judgement saying it relatively is leagal for a faculties/employers to impose a uniform as long because it relatively is lifelike, it relatively is getting greater general.

The 'religious' schools the previous poster mentions are not public schools... the Catholic School board is totally seperate.

Not in the public schools (primary or secondary), although there has been talk off and on at some schools, every few years, about getting them. Many do have a standard students are suppose to measure up to though (half naked not allowed).

I think we (Canadians) treasure our "mosaic" culture (rather than a melting pot) too much to easily accept uniforms in our public schools. I'd vote no if given the chance, and I'm in my 40s.

Canada is just like the US in that way; the kids here only wear uniforms if they go to a private school. Most of the public schools don't have a uniform policy. This goes for primary and secondary both.

In public schools?? No way.. if I ever had to wear a uniform I'd have been pissed. There may be some Christian public schools that require a uniform, but basically, the answer is NO.

the uniform consists of:snow boots, snow pants, and a furry eskimo jacket plus a touque.... just kidding...

First a clarification... a public school is any school that receives government funding, which makes the majority of catholic schools and other religious schools public...

uniforms are usually left up to the individual school... as far as i know, all catholic schools and other religious/traditional schools have uniforms...

some public schools are choosing to have uniforms, but there arent many that i know of...

Some public schools are starting to go back to a uniform because kids are not making the correct choices in attire to ware to school.

not all of them....it depends on where in canada...not to mention if it's a religiously affiliated school then yes....most likely.....

so it's not all of the students.....just more than in the USA.....also if it is a same sex school that might be a big sign for uniforms
