One of my friends has invited me to go along with her to Bangkok in September - sounds like fun - but, it's the rainy season. I've never been before, and always wanted to - I was planning on going in February (the dry season) - should I wait until February??

Are the monsoon rains bad enough to stop you having fun and seeing the sights there??

(I'm in Manila at the moment - it's the rainy season here - it's bad!)

So far this year the rains have not been very bad. Actually there has not been enough here.
February is a good time to come here but any time is okay. It mostly rains in the afternoon and last a short time. The rain is warm so getting wet should not me a problem. I do hope you go to see more of Thailand that BKK. That is a very big and congested city with very high pollution levels. The rest of Thailand is better to visit. Bangkok is good for shopping though. China town and Cha-to -chok are great for finding bargains. Either time is good. I live about two hours from BKK.

I went to Bangkok in the wet season and had a great time. Even in the wet you can always find things to do that are fun. However just because it the wet season does not mean it going to rain all the time. Although in Manila I did get caught in the rain for most of my holiday. Good luck whatever you choose :O)

Monsoon season in SE Asian can be devasting one year and tolerable in others. Depends really how long you intend to stay. 2 weeks holiday, I would advise waiting until the dry season but then you have 35deg C every day to cope with so either way, you end up staying indoors either in the malls or apartments. By the way, monsoon rain is warm and I'm sure you could cope with that.

You can come to BKK anytime you want. The rain never continues for the whole day anyway.

I live in BKK.

It depends on your luck. It can be really bad, heavy rain and flooding. Best time to go is Dec - Feb
