he did a lot of paintings but i guess his best work was OPEN WINDOW and WOMAN WITH THE HAT( a painting of his wife). These paintings started fauvism (first of the most important "isms" in 20th century painting). It is the use of bold colors and contrasts. red against gree, orange against blue, yellow against violet. This instantly changed his financial situation and remained a "fauve" all his life.
Some of his other works are:
The Dinner Table, Compote And Glass Pitcher, La Coiffure,
Carmelina, Joy of Life, The Blue Nude, The Dessert, Harmony in Red, The Red Studio, The Pink Nude, Lady in Blue,The Slave, and his last one is Seated Nude, among a few.
He was a prolific painter and sculptor up until his death in 1954. He was regarded as the most important French painter of the 20th century.
