Very far. I work in a hospital and when people are anxious or nervous their bodies respond dramatically and immediately. Mainly it effects their heart rates and blood pressures. It is not all in our heads though. It also has to do with the people we are around. You can see a patient's vital signs change from when their family is in the room and when they leave. I have also heard of Tibetan monks that are so good at meditation they can make themselves sweat in 0 degree weather! Why do you think doctors urge you to de-stress your life? Because that stress has such an impact on your physical body.
