I've just posted an answer to another question which queried why god created bad people. My answer was 'There is no god'. Most of the other answers I read were of the usual Christian 'free will' type.
Muslim women, or men for that matter, are no different to any other people who have been brain washed into complying with the teachings of their religion.
Religion is the opium of the masses and a form of control. Islam is used by male Islamists to control female Islamists and most Muslim women accept this because from the cradle they have been taught this as way of life. Muslim men have been taught the same thing.
I do feel sorry for Muslim women, they are very down trodden, but so are many religious people.
I don't think Islam should be banned in the UK, but I don't think any religion should be pandered to or made special allowances for.
F.Y.I. I live in a multi cultural neighbourhood.

I feel sorry for Muslim women who live in the Middle East. In many of those countries they are nothing more than baby-making slaves. The UK is different. There is more help for women who wish to get away from a home they don't feel safe in. (I'm not just talking about Muslim women here!).

However, to completely ban religion in the UK is a little extreme. If you were to truly ban religion then there would be countless pieces of beautiful art you'd never see, songs you'd never hear and buildings you'd never enter because they'd have to be knocked down.

I do agree with the French in making all schools completely secular. An environment such as that needs to be as neutral as possible. Religion is a very personal thing and should only be practised in your own time. To banning religion would be an act of intolerance. Something many religions are accused of as it is.

I feel sorry for women who are oppressed for any reason. Unfortunitely it is not religion that oppresses women it is small inadiquite men who want to have power over anyone so why not women. Women are oppressed in many countries and cultures over many religions. Read Bronte or Austin and you will find that women were oppressed not long ago in England. I actually lived in Afghanistan and saw the women, well occassionally and how they were treated. Even as a Christian I do not blame the Muslim religion because I have met Muslims who had a great respect for women. I do blame poverty and low education and a government that will not protect women. The in the UK after all the people who died trying to "ban" religions you should remember the words of Elizabeth I, "I do not wish to make windows into mens hearts". You can't force people not to believe something. I know because if someone tried to ban Christianity well I think you would be surprised what us Western people would be capable of doing. People have a right to believe as they want. They do not have a right to hurt women because of it.

NO. Why should anyone feel sorry for Muslim women? Only those who are ignorant in the religion of Islam that think that way of feeling sorry for Muslim women. In Islam, women are placed in high position. Unfortunately, it is the abusers who mislead the public by their own bad attitude and treatments towards the muslim women that create more negative impression of the position of Muslim women. Why should the religion be banned in uk? All human beings are entitled to their own choice of religion and way of worship. Do not try to play GOD! If only everyone learn to respect one another by leaving each other alone by not criticising or provoking one another, the world should be more peaceful. Most of the time, the pot is calling the kettle black. If only each look at their own weakness or mind your own business, there would be more peace. Avoid greed and jealousy. So less problem.

You have two questions here and one really has very little to do with the other. Feel sorry for all women, all over the world. As a result of religion, history, society, ethnic backgrounds, women are disrespected on various levels and to various degrees. I do not believe religions should be banned, as long as your so-called "religion" doesn't teach or train hatred. With more love and kindness and less meaness, we all would be able to get along with one another just fine. When you study religions and the history thereof, you will find that the religion themes across the board, all parallel in the basic foundation of "don't be a jerk, be nice to people".

Yes, I do feel bad for Muslim women, but you can't BAN a religion! That's a little fascist, don't you think?

**in all fairness, I can admit that I know little to nothing about that religion, so the women may be very happy, I can admit I don't know anything about. I suppose the only thing we hear about are the horror stories.

Nobodies religion should be banned, but I'm American, I do sometimes feel that some religions treat women unfair, but the Muslim women in the UK I would think would have the choice to leave if they wanted, its up to them to chose their fate.

Banning a religion I don't agree with. Once something becomes illegal you are only going to push it underground, and turn those involved into fanatics. But I do feel bad for Muslim women. Why any person would choose to become a second class citizen is beyond me. Not that all Muslims are into such a ridged interpretation but the vast majority are.

Women and men are equal. No one should except at religion which says otherwise. God being all knowing has an understanding far beyond ours, and with his infinite wisdom, I doubt he sees men and women in a different light.

But before you say we should ban Islam from the UK, I would suggest you watch a movie call "V for Vendetta" it is pertinent to this question.

Can't claim to know any Muslim women, but I would of course feel sorry for anyone trapped in a life they didn't choose and didn't want. We can't assume they are all unhappy just because they don't live like others, some of them are content following their beliefs. Whilst I am a Christian, I don't think we should ban the following of any faith in the UK, after all they believe their way is right as strongly as I believe in mine, and to ban it would be as bad as a Muslim country banning Christianity. Jesus taught us to pray about things we want changed, and tolerance, you can't expect anyone to see the love Jesus has for them if you treat them like something beneath you. It's best to try and see people through His eyes, and He loves everyone.
