Thank you so much for all your replies. Judging from what you all say, it seems like SJW varies from person to person. I've been on SJW now for 2 weeks, and don't feel better. I am very bad in the mornings - I shake, tremble, cry, feel panicky and generally feel like I'm going to die!! It does improve a bit - come lunchtime. I'm not keen on prescription drugs, as I used to be on them ages ago and it clashed with other drugs and they didn't really do a lot for me really. I just wondered what people's thoughts were on alternatives to SJW.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (can be drug free)

Other prescription antidepressants

Electro-convulsive therapy (only for VERY severe depression)

You seem an intelligent and motivated person. Perhaps you should talk with your doctor about finding a therapist for cognitive therapy. You can also find books about it in your library or local book store.

Two weeks is not long enough to see any effects yet. I used to take SJW along with Kava Kava (which is now banned in the UK) you can still get it from the island of Fuji.

Research Kava Kava you may find it of benefit, but I would stick with the SJW for longer. I know I took Kira SJW and did not feel anything, I then started taking Solgar SJW and noticed a difference.

If you can visit the site below you will find it very helpful.

Good luck.

To be honest I do think a short course of drugs are the best thing. I am totally against taking drugs for things but after my marriage failed I was so depressed I eventually went to the docs and got some antidepressents - I only took them for 2 weeks and felt so much better!! They work quickly letting you get a real perspective on things - It isn't a sign of weakness xxx
