could be a lot of things...
a. he needs something from you
b. he did something bad to you that you haven't discovered yet (like drop you on your head and you can't remember it happening...i know it's a stupid example...hehe)
c. he found out you're sick with something and now he's feeling guilty (hopefully NOT the case here)
d. your folks finally laid down the law and told him to be nice.
e. he's growing up (that means he's feeling responsible and protective about you)
f. you're growing up (and not as annoying as before so your bro thinks you might possibly be cool enough to hang out with some day)
g. all of the above
h. none of the above
Go ask him...at least he wont bully you now if you do.

He is maturing. Perhaps he has learn to live and let live? Maybe he is not as bad as you thought he was all along. Bullying you in the past perhaps was a way to get closer to you. Older siblings sometimes like to push the younger siblings around so as to show authority. He must have realised he was wrong. Be positive and give him a chance, perhaps someday soon, talk about the past, you be surprised at the discovery of your older brother's changes. Sometimes relationship may start off with a bad foot but this same relationship becomes tougher along the way. At the end of the day.... Blood is still thicker than Water.

I know what you mean. The same thing happened to me. My older brother (18 months) used to always be mean to me. He was never nice. He never wanted me around. He was an a hole all my life. I never felt accepted or loved by him. He made me feel like I wasn't wanted, etc. To make things worse, he was athletic, and I was not. I am more artistic and creative.
Then all of a sudden he tries to be "my brother". Which is better than him being a jerk to me, but I have a hard time accepting this niceness from him. I'm not sure if I believe that he cares about me or loves me. But from so many years of rejection and contempt, I'm not feeling it.
He's still sort of the same way, but just not towards me anymore. I'm just like whatever. I hardly see him anymore anyway.

Listen, at first when your young, older siblings feel that your taking the spotlight. But sometimes they learn to get over it. And realize that your are worth loosing the spot light. However, watch for the weird ones that never get over it like my Cousin.

Anyone here can tell you what they think just happened. But I'll tell you this: Ask him. Confront him if you must. For all you know, he just wanna be a big brother to you.
Besides, nothing beats him saying he just wanna be nice to you, right?
Hope my answer helped! All the best c",)
