For the last 5 years, the top languages have been VB, Java and C++.

Oracle is not a language (its a database) and is about as popular as its strongest competitor, SQL Server. Some people will disagree with me, but I believe that if you're good with one database, you're going to be pretty good with other databases too.

Some people feel VB is the easiest to learn. Unfortunately, VB programmers don't get as much respect. However, they are in great demand. VB is used almost exclusively for business applications; it is particularly good for developing user interfaces.

Java is easier to learn than C++, but the two languages have a lot in common. Right now Java is very popular in Universities as a teaching language. Most games are written in either C or C++.

hello, if u r in first year go for C++, but do it completely with graphics and pointers.
Then make a small project using OOP methods and graphics in C++ only.
Fully devote ur first year doing and making higher projects in c++ since it is the basis of all programming concepts and after u r done with C++ u can switch over to an other porgramming language like JAVA with just a lil bit of work. but first u must be thoroughly well versed with c++
