I am not an athiest.. i believe in god, but i am not sure about the bible (i believe in ISLAM) but chrisitan told me to read the bible

The Bible has a test how to identify a true believer. It is mentioned in the Gospel of Mark, Ch. No.16, Verse No.17 and 18 - It says that… ‘There will be signs for true believers and among the signs - In my name they shall cast out devils, they shall speak foreign tongues, new tongues, they shall take up serpents - And if they drink deadly poison, they shall not be harmed - And when they place their hand over the sick, they shall be cured.’ This is a scientific test - In scientific terminology, it is known as the ‘confirmatory test’ for a true Christian believer.

So anyone tried? and if you dont pass your not a true christian?

Bible says about the shape of the earth - due to lack of time - I can point out another 100 points - lack of time. Anyhow, sister wants to know what the Bible speaks about shape of the earth. ¬¬¬¬¬¬It is mentioned in the Bible, in the Gospel of Mathew, Chapter No.4, Verse No.8, it says - the same reference which Dr. William Campbell used about tempting… ‘The devil took him… that is Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, to an exceedingly high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the earth and its glory. ¬¬¬¬¬Gospel of Luke Chapter No.4, Verse No.5…‘The devil took him to a high mountain and showed him the glory of all the kingdoms of the world.’ ¬¬¬¬¬¬ Now, even if you go to the tallest mountain, the highest mountain in the world… that is Mount Everest, and supposingly, you have a very good vision, and can see for thousands of miles together - Yet, you will not be able to see all the kingdoms of the world - Because today we know, the earth is spherical.

Yet, you will not be able to see all the kingdoms of the world - Because today we know, the earth is spherical. You will not be able to see the kingdom, of the opposite side of the world. The only way you will be able to see, if the earth was flat. ¬¬¬¬¬¬That is the description what the Bible gives…‘The earth is flat.’ ¬¬¬¬¬¬Further more, this same description is repeated in the book of Daniel, Chapter No.4, Verse No.10 and 11. ¬¬¬¬¬¬It says… ‘In a dream, that the tree grew up into the heaven, and there when the tree grew up into the heaven, it grew up so much, that every one from all the ends of the earth, they could see the tree. ¬¬¬¬¬¬This is only possible, if the shape of the earth was flat. ¬¬¬¬¬¬If a tree is very long and the shape of the earth was flat it is possible.¬¬¬¬¬¬ Today it is a universal fact that the world is spherical - You will never be able to see the tree, however much long it is, from the opposite side of the spherical shape of the earth.

Further more if you read, it is mentioned in the 1st Chronicles, Chapter No.16, Verse No.30, that… ‘The earth does not move.’ ¬¬¬¬¬¬ The same is repeated in the book of Psalms, Chapter No.93, Verse No.1, that… ‘Almighty God has stabilized the earth.’ - That means the earth does not move

In Isaiah 40:22, it says…‘He, God, sits enthroned above the circle of the earth.’ ¬¬¬¬¬¬

¬¬¬¬¬¬Regarding the Bible, saying that…‘the world’…in Isaiah, ‘is a circle.’ ¬¬¬¬¬¬ No problem - It says… ‘Circle’, not spherical. ¬¬¬¬¬¬
So one place Bible says… ‘Flat’- one place it says... ‘Circle.’ ¬¬If you agree with both the verses, it becomes like a disk. ¬¬¬¬¬¬See - Does it look like the earth? ¬¬¬¬¬¬It is circle, and it is flat - This is not the earth. ¬¬¬¬¬¬

Some Christian groups/denominations/cults or whatever you want to call them do in fact have those tests. Shakers, snake handlers and Pentecostals to name a few. All charismatics speak in tongues, its just rattling off gibberish.

Most groups say you need to pass only one test not all so everybody goes yablegaddadoohoo (there's your speaking in tongue) praise Jesus and that counts. You can handle venomous snakes if you want, they don't bite if you know how to handle them. Drink poison (alcohol), if you want to use something stronger just pump your stomach after. Like I said speaking in tongues is gibberish and anybody can do it. I guess all foriegners are assumed believers, that can mean anything I guess. Since nobody in the Bible spoke the language we have today we're all true believers right? Laying of hands is usually fake but in the medical field its called gentle stim and it helps in certain cases.

Technically I've passed all these tests and I'm an atheist My point is that anybody can pass that test and it means nothing so it means equally nothing if you don't bother with it in the first place except that maybe you aren't quite as stupid and silly as some of the other Christians.

The other passages you mentioned are easier to dismiss. The mountain was a figurative reference for example. The Earth does not move means we aren't on a meteor flying through space. God has stabalized the Earth, well it is pretty stable in its place. It certainly isn't the hardest thing in the Bible to write off. The Bible alternated between a lot of flowery and spooky language, most of it lacking in true substance and meaning.

I think Mohammad saw these and other flaws and the increasing popularity of Christianity and saw this as an apportunity to make a new religion. He of course had to write a new book very similar to the Bible, taking away some ridiculous stuff, call that a marketing tool, and adding his own agenda which was that of men, typical in their babrbaric quest to dominate women and to a lesser degree, eachother.

I hope that in reading the Bible you are begining to realize that your religion is based on another equally flawed religion. Recongnize this and think for yourself. It does nothing for you to follow an imaginary being. Look at the tests put to these religions, tests of science, logic and human spirit. There have been many throughout history. These religions do not pass the tests and they have no place in the future. They have brought us only pain, fear, war, death and destruction. They have created animosity among man. They serve no good purpose on a global scale. If you must have such an antiquated faith please do the world a favor and keep it to yourself.

Your faith is Islam, therefore you read the Koran, correct? It takes some understanding and the Holy Spirit to fully appreciate what is in the Bible. Ask GOD for understanding, He would be pleased to give you it, if you ask humbly and sincerely.

I think one section you might wish to read is Luke 23:32-43 which is where Jesus promised the criminal on another cross that, because of the criminal's confession, the criminal would be in heaven.

That is the important consideration, whether you accept Jesus by faith and give your life to Him and GOD.

You should not be worried about the signs of a true believer so much as whether or not you are willing to believe in the central message of the Bible.

I pray that you might receive wisdom from GOD.

The end of the 16th chapter of Mark (verses 9-20) is not accepted by all Christians as Scripture. Indeed, both Christian and secular scholars dispute the validity of this passage for various contextual and exegetical reasons. However, this disputed passage is NOT the biblical test of Christian salvation that you (a Muslim) claim it is. Find below an excellent source of information on this passage.

I have never heard of this passage as the "confirmatory test," and I've been a practicing Christian for many years...by whom is this "known," as you claim? Where is your evidence, and who are your authorities?

Romans 10:9 says, "If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, yield and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved." So, if you can say that Jesus Christ is God (fully co-equal and co-eternal as a personality of God), if you yield to AND believe in the core of your being that He (Jesus Christ) was resurrected, bodily and spiritually, from the dead, then you are saved. Do a search on bible.com for the word "salvation", it will more fully explain.

There have been signs. The feat I must admit is very hard for me for the moment. We should remember that it took about 18 years even for Jesus to attain His perfection. Maybe it will take for me much longer, but I will not stop trying. As for the shape of the earth, it should not be a limitation for the vision of a perfect being. Jesus can even see the future. Any perfect being can do that.

There are fringe groups of evangelicals who do use venomous snakes as part of their practice, but these are a tiny minority of Christians. I should point out that the earliest manuscripts of the gospel of Mark do not include those verses....they were added later.

Fewer PLEASE!!!!!!!

Actually you are on the total opposite end of the spectrum from an atheist!

I'm happy that you are a content happy person whatever your beliefs! What I cannot understand is why are you on a mission to spread YOUR joy?

Can't you just be content to be content???

People know where to go to find religion. It's distasteful to force your thoughts and theories on others.

Rejoice in choice!

The Bible is real. Every true Christian is capable of casting out demons, and praying for the sick to get healed. I have encountered such events. everything is done in the name of Jesus.
