One is for home the other is for work.

Some of the KEY and FREQUENTLY used features include Domain membership (used almost exclusively in businesses), Remote Desktop access (FANTASTIC Remote Control ability), and Multiprocessor support (used in high-end workstations).

There is little to no difference between any of the Windows XP. If anything professional has a few extra features that nobody ever really uses.

as a home user u wont feel the difference
but if u are a software developer u might see a lot of differences
like
a lot of windows applications are not for home editions like
IIS
Advance network management
