Depending on the damage, Some vocal diseases can be fix with vocal rest and the adequate voice technique. Nodules and Severe Inflammations take long time to your vocal chords to get completely restored, could be between 3 months to a year.

For Sore Throat, drink lots of water Some teas, and vocal rest for 2 to 5 days would be enough to fix the Problem.

If you have serious vocal damage, like Polyps for example, Doctor could recommend Surgery, and 6 to 12 months of speech Therapy after the surgery.

Other conditions and diseases Can seriously damage your vocal chords, certain medications could affect your voice too.

In my experience as a singer and vocal Trainer I would say many people kill their own voices with wrong technique, bad habits and abuse of their vocal Instrument.

Other VOICE KILLERS ARE: Bad Voice Teacher. Tose "TEACHERS" could cause vocal damage because they don't know how to teach correctly, this is a big problem; but they are not real teachers, they don't have the adequate training and knowledge to TEACH VOICE TECHNIQUE. That's why singers need to be AWARE and carefully chooce their voice teachers.

These "teachers" are killing many young singer's voices. I meet people in my studio coming from another teachers with their voices completly destroyed.

When I ask to those students, What Technique that teacher was teaching you? They don't know. These teahcers are not only stealing the students money, students are paying them and trusting these teachers are doing a "good job". But the truth is: Students are paying to kill their own voices. This Make me MAD. They don't know even how to breath correctly!!!! What a waste of time, voice and MONEY!!!

I do not accept those students until their go to the specialist and find what is going on with their voices. Most People need to take a long vocal rest, speech Therapy and then start learning the Right Voice Technique.

People are not aware how dangerous is to put their voices in the irresponsible "Teachers" hands.

Be aware my friends. Make a good search before start doing voice lessons, be sure you are not loosing your money and your voice.

Read my 360's Blog: How to find the right voice teacher. I think you will find a good information there.

Good Luck every body.

Yes, maybe. Depends what the damage is. From shouting it will mend by itself. Some damage needs the input of a doctor.

It depends on how damaged. If not too severely, yes. If severely, probably somewhat but not completely.

Yes. Take ginger tea. You can either mash up a few ginger roots and boil it, drink it with honey at night before you go to sleep. Or you can find a chinese drug store and ask for ginger tea. It helps.
