yes just pray and you will be safe and you will eventually find what it is that you are looking for!
my parents were trying to sell a house and they took a st.joseph statue and buried it facing the oppisit way of our house and prayed to st.joseph for 7 days and it said that on the 7th day the house would be sold and i really was!!! it was amazing!!!
now all my family trys it and it never fails!

Who are the saints?
The saints are the disciples of Jesus Christ during his time.
ex: Peter - now called St. Peter
Paul - now called St. Paul
Now to answer your question directly, they are NOT!
And So, Who can help you in time of need?
GOD! But be assure of this, he doesn't answer the way you want. So don't expect the answer that you desire all the time, because his answers is based on what you need.

I really don't know. I think the idea of having people pray for you is a great and wonderful idea. I think that it is probably better though to have living people rather than saints pray for you, if only because it creates a tighter knit community among the living Christians.
If you would like I'm sure several people here would be willing to add you to their prayers

those that are helping and ask for no reward and do it because they really want to help those are saints. Those that are going just to make their resume look better or to make them feel better they are just going to get gain. hope this helps ^^

i have often prayed through St Anthony to God when I have lost something... and as strange as this sounds I have always found whatever it is I am looking for right after I pray
