my boyfriend got me a heart shaped locket for our three year anniversary it was very expensive, and i lost it. I dont know whether or not i should tell him i lost it or if i should go out and buy another so that i dont hurt his feelings.

Tell him. Do it before he asks about it too. If you wait it will seem like you were hiding it and that would hurt even more. It will seem like you can't talk to him and he might start to wonder what else you are hiding to spare his feelings.

It's alright, sometimes things get misplaced.
It would definitely be better to tell him the truth.
Your relationship is dependant on trust, and that's more important then any material item ever could be.
I'm sure he will feel the same way, so don't stress it.
