For ex all the muslim world was in uproar against the caricatures of Mohammed. And who would dare anything against the Jews.
But people just don't seem to care when Jesus and the faith are mocked and ridiculed.
Is it time to stop turning the other cheek and saying enough is enough. I'm Christian and proud to be so don't you mock my religion.

Many responses from christians here make me afraid. I was not talking about being mocked myself. I talked about secularists attacking and mocking Jesus and the faith. btw
To defend oneself and the church is a christian virtue not a sin at all.

You see secularists use the words of Our Lord Himself about turning the other cheek againt christians so that they think they can attack us without any consequences.

I don't believe Christians are wimps. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Personally I think the Muslim world made a big deal out of nothing. Not everyone practices their religion so how the hell were the people who mocked Mohammed supposed to know it was forbidden. Also, the editor of the paper that mocked him wasn't Muslim so it wasn't against his religion to do so.

He is entitled to his own opinion even if it differs from someone elses.

Well you're making quite a generalizatioin I think. I am a Christian and a pastor and have never once approved of anyone mocking Jesus. However if you look to Jesus' example when He was mocked and beaten and falsely accused He said nothing but as a sheep before her sheerers is silent He opened not His mouth. If you are a Christian you would be following the example of Jesus. There is a time to speak up and quite often I am willing to make a fervant defense of my faith. However being a Godly Christlike example will win more people to Christ then running on at the mouth ever will.

As soon as you refuse to turn the other cheek, you stop behaving in a Christian manner. Being forgiving and loving and understanding are good Christian values. If I mock christianity and you don't like it, then forgive me!

If you are angry about being mocked, and you want a violent response, then you are NOT a Christian. Jesus will be ashamed of you!

Muslims reacted to cartoons about a very violent man; Mohammed, in a violent way: With violence. They gave out what their religion put into them! Violence! But the Christian, though not perfect, gives what the Bible and the Holy Spirit gives him, which is love, peace and joy, etc. no matter what the circumstance.
See, Muslims must react that way, because Mohammed was just a violent man is dead and can't defend himself.
However, Christians, know that Jesus is alive and in the end his judgement is just and right, and based on his loving character and they rest on that, there is no need to protest, etc.

If you stop turning the other cheek you lose the love for people that is a major cornerstone of Christianity (the real stuff opposed to the money-hungry weirdos).

Yes, we should stand up and say that it is not right to mock ANY religion as it disrespects people's values and own intelligence.

Stand your ground - but don't go on the attack.

Its all about loving people and hating sin... that simple.

Well, seeing how that whole "turn the other cheek" thing came from the _founder_ of Christianity, I suppose it's pretty important.

Do you think Christ spend his time debating with those who mocked him or with those who would be receptive to his message?

It's just best to leave if you're being offended; if the offense is repetitive and unavoidable, then it is probably a good idea to do something. Ask the person to refrain from the offensive language. If they don't listen to you, then man, I guarantee they are not worth your time.

Well, given the fact that you ARE a Christian, you should want to do what Jesus said, so why would you go against what he said about turning the other cheek?

Jesus understood that people will not be converted and saved by force. I wish that all of his followers would take that to heart.

Though many christians hav fallen into a state of apathy, christianity is still dangerous when roused. However, the longer it takes for something to rouse it, the more christians become apathetic, and thus it becomes more difficult to rouse christianity. There is always hope, though. Keep the faith and don't despair. However, remember what Saint Francis said: "Preach, and if necessary, use words."

It isn't just that they don't care. . Christians are aware of the double-standard in our society . . that you don't dare say anything about anyone else's religious or worldview, except if they are Christians, . . then it's ok. .

but listen to you. . be careful. . don't be proud. . the Bible says pride is a sin. .
you ARE right to believe Christianity, cause it is the only worldview that has any real answers. Anything else falls short and leaves one empty-handed.

But you need to be loving in your interactions with others, not prideful or puffed up. If they attack the Lord. . don't worry too much about it cause God can take care of Himself, right?

He'll deal with the scoffers in His own time and in His own way.

The only thing I can think of is that many take the whole "turn the other cheek" thing literally. By definition wimps allow themselves to get wupped on. Being a wimp isn't all that. If you believe your ideology then all wimps go to heaven. Not a bad deal.
