They are not only screwing themselves, they are screwing you, and every other american. So what we have to do is either kill them on the spot or send them to jail to turn big rocks into small rocks. If not the military would be full of quiters...the life isn't easy.

You don't go to jail for disagreeing with the war. You go to jail if you've consensually enlisted in the military while at peace and then refuse to follow through on the terms of your enlistment when at war. Three soldiers in Israel are currently in jail for refusing to actively fight in the action against Hezbollah. They do allow for conscientious objections but you have to suffer the consequences of that that and work through the process. I'm not sure this has anything to do with the draft but it's possible reinstatement would be connected more to a need for soldiers and very difficult to sell the American public.

You get jail time because the government provides some expensive benefits to military personnel (GI Bill for college tuition, health care, if you're in the reserves you can get paid a pretty good chunk o' change for one weekend a month/2 weeks a year, etc.) In return for that, you're expected to go fight.
Signing up for the military means you agree to go fight who they tell you, where they tell you, when they tell you.
In the case of a draft, you're dealing with breaking a law. You could make the exact same argument with traffic tickets. Really, you're only getting fined because you disagree with some bureaucrat's opinion of how fast you should go on the road - why should you be punished for that, as long as you're not causing an accident?

You are correct. Furthermore, the draft cannot be reconciled with the clear language of the 13th Amendment. But the nature of warfare has changed: the army no longer needs people just to carry guns -- they have to know how to operate sophisticated weaponry, and that means long terms of service, which would not do in a draft. So, unless something really weird happens, the draft is kaput.

because every American male has what is called and mso "military service Obligation" which means you like the life we give you "fight for it" but that is only with a draft
if you are talking about a soldier that doesn't' t wont to fight well that is a hole different can of worm it is called "for starters" breach of contract then they move to disobeying a law full order and it goes on from there as it should you seed you would be a soldier you took the money you expect to get paid to go to collage but when it gets down to the nut cutting you run
oops should have read the fine print
soldiers don't just train they fight whether or not they agree with the commander and chief or not

No it doesnt have the effect of a draft. If you sign up for the army, its your job to go to war if asked. If you dont want to go to war, dont join the army. Even if they dont agree with the opinion of their leaders, they would have to respect the will of the people (since america is a democracy).

your the one who signed up to go fight for your country.
if you don't want to go to war, don't sign up...especially while Bush is the president.
And no, now if they send you over seas, and you refuse to go.. you can get up to 8 (i think) years in prison. Not just in a draft.
I also think it's because people are signing up just to get free schooling.

It is your duty to defend your country. Military or civilian. If you refuse to stick up for your country then you must be a subversionist. Next best thing to treason. Be glad you don't get the firing squad. That's the idea.
