As a Catholic, you know of the biblical phrase "Knock and the door shall be opened."

Everytime you seek to have a deeper faith (or relationship with the Lord), He will find a way to do it for you. After all, He is the Master Planner. You just have to sincerely acknowledge Him and His power over your life! The rest is up to Him!

It's good that you are a catholic and interested in learning how to deepen your faith. Most people do not care much about their faith. As a catholic(like me), we should also read other materials and find out more about our religion aside from reading the Bible. Of course, prayer and continuous study of the Bible is utmost. But what I want to stress is that we should learn to answer questions and accusations about our faith in an academic and logical way. not just spout words from the Bible. Because many people who challenge our faith oftentimes do not believe in the Bible.

God gave us mind, heart and soul. so i say, we do not just deepen our faith solely on feeling and 'blind' trust, which is what others seem to think. We should let our faith unite heart, soul and mind. Be an intelligent believer.

And always always Pray... God bless!!!

I have Catholic parents, went to Catholic school, but attend a Baptist church. I have seen both sides, and I respect both sides. Both have very good intentions.

I admire the Catholic faith for the reverence they show to God at mass. I think that the solemn, quiet sermons are probably very similar to those held in Jesus' day. However, I think that one problem with the Catholic church is the fact that they urge repetitive prayer, and that they give you prayer books with selected prayers and pieces of the bible.

Make sure you read the whole bible. Not just once, all the time. If you don't understand something, find out what it means. Say heartfelt prayers to God, try to find out exactly who He is and what He wants for you. Try to get to know Him and His son on a personal level.

Don't try to achieve heaven by good works, realize that it is a gift that only God can give you, and that He has already done so if you have accepted the fact that Jesus died for you. Don't neglect charity, though. Help people, and you will help yourself in the process.

Read your bible and believe what it says.

Here is something that I would challenge you to think about: did the Church create the Bible, or did the Bible create the Church?

Catholic theologians would tell you that the Church created the Bible, and they would be wrong. If you read the Bible, you see God initiating action by speaking His word to His people, and then His people responding. All throughout the Scripture, God speaks first, then we respond.

To say that we created the Bible is to demean the role of God in inspiring and protecting what we now know as His complete revelation to us. 2 Timothy 3:16 says that "All Scripture is God-breathed, and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction, that the man of God may be equipped for every good work." Thus, if a deepening of faith counts as a good work (and it does), the best and only way to deepen your faith is to read the Bible.

I hope this helped.

If you want to deepen your faith, there are three steps.

1. Close your eyes.
2. Bury your head in the sand.
3. (Most importantly) Do absolutely nothing to help anyone else because God will do it all for you.

Faith is a mistake. Mankind needs to face reality and work to change its problems instead of waiting for God to do everything.

I was following, like any sheep, the catholic faith, and loved to go deep in spirituality. However,my path was directed to Indian scriptures, miraculously. One day I saw a holy Indian book on my locker, but no one could admitted he put it there.Since,I have devoured Indian scriptures, and found many more interesting details of spirituality.
After 2-3 yrs I joined Hare Krsna mission and I think there is no better philosophy on earth nowadays!
From meat-eater,I am now pure vegetarian.
From whisky drinker,I only take water.
From sex-seeker,I no longer yearn for it.
From money seeker,I don't care anymore for this temporary illusion.
So,with all these attachments gone,I feel free and now preach to others.

Dolly,
The same way you were supposed to start, by trusting Him more and more every day.

It doesn't help if you pray to Mary or the saints. You probably don't like that, but you are supposed to have your spiritual relationship with God, not anyone else.

Can you be a Roman Catholic and not pray to Mary or the Saints? I hope that you stop, one way or the other. Those trditions are getting in your way.

If you are seriously asking the question and want to accomplish the result, stop praying to Mary and the Saints. It's not their station to recieve prayers.

Live a good life. Obey the 10 commandments. Love your neighbor. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Pray to God and meditate. Do some sort of good thing for someone every day.

When you do this, in the words of the book "The Celestine Prophecies", your life will become filled with "fortutious coincidences"! These are "little signs from God to increase your faith.

I read a quote from a guru guy once, "Everyone has experienced dramatic miracles in their life. It's just whether they choose to give God credit for them!'

Pray for God to increase your faith, live according to his laws, and the miracles will come!

Faith is the ultimate evil. It means believing in something without evidence, or in the face of contrary evidence. This can be done only by abandoning the one thing that distinguishes H. sapiens from animals -- the ability to use logic to think. And what could be worse than abandoning your humanity?

I'm not Catholic/Christian I don't know everything about how it works. But you could go to services and get into it as much as possible. Let yourself loose and go with your instinct while you're there, don't hold back. If you want to yell, "Lord I love you!" or whatever phrase, go ahead, no one's going to hate you, if anything they will respect you for being unafraid. Do research on your religion, see how your ancestors passed it on and where it originated. You could go to a secluded natural area that isn't meant for anything in particular, and you can just breathe the air of God and enjoy and see how beautiful his Creation is.

But for anyone? That's a broad and difficult question for me to answer. Go to church, mosque, temple, synongue, coven, whatever. Think, "This is my religion. Mine. No one can take it away from me." Be proud of what you practice. Just think of what your religion means to you. Think about it more often, put it into your daily life.
