what are the risks? I mean, is there anything that could happen to him while he's under anasthesia or after? I heard a sad neutering-story where the dog died. it scared me because i don't want that to happen to my dog.......

The risks are the same in humans (people can die under anesthetic too). Talk to the vet, he or she will be able to give you a clear picture. The best bet is to have your dog neutered though - the benefits far outweigh the risks :)

There's always a risk with surgery, but this operation is done so often the risk is very small. There are also risks if you don't get it done. Cancer is one. I have a 9 year old Dalmatian that I never had neutered. A couple of months ago I had to spend over $400.00 to have an operation done on him to remove a tumor. I was told that this tumor was very common in older males that weren't neutered. They usually aren't malignant (his wasn't), but it would have been a lot easier for him and a lot cheaper
for me if I had had him neutered when I got him. When they removed the tumor they also neutered him. Just make sure you take him to a good vet and there shouldn't be any problem.

Yes there are risks but the benifits out way them. Your dog will more likely be hurt or die if he is NOT neuter then if he isn't. I assist in Spay and Neuter surgerys at the local animal shelter and I have see at lease 500 spays and neuters. Not a single animal had die. Sure you heard a story about a dog dieing but how many perfectly healthy, calm, and wonderful dogs do you hear about that have be altered? The choice is yours.
-Best wishes

there is mostly a threat that he will. on occasion canine will hump issues and not unavoidably in a sexual way. canine many times hump different animals as a demonstration of dominance. Get him neutered as quickly as a threat to cut back the probabilities, yet whilst he's dominate he would desire to nevertheless do it. purely shop pulling him off and telling him no. It won't harm the cat as there is not any genuine sexual intercourse. Plus the cat in all probability won't enable him do it for long before working off.

What is neutering? It is called castration. Why do people try to cover up what they are really doing by giving it a nicer sounding name?
Anyway the risks of your dog dieing during surgery are minimal. There is a much greater risk that your dog’s personality will change and he will become lazy and fat. Cattle and hogs are routinely castrated so they will be more docile and gain weight faster.

I think it is worth the risk.. Neutered dogs live longer, and can't get certain cancers...they stress less, and have better immune system.
they are less likely to roam, and get hit by a car, or killed in dog fights.

This is a risk we have to take, but it rarely happens. I know of no one whose pet died from neutering. Look for a vet you can trust and leave the rest to God ^.^ Everything will be just fine.

It's rare, but it can happen. The benefits outweigh the risks that he'll be less likely to roam.

There is always a risk but it is a very routine procedure, just make sure you get a vet whom you really trust and try not to worry.

It's pretty rare that your dog will die, I had my pup done when he was 5 months old and he's totally fine, he's 4 now and still humps this pillow we gave him, I guess the urge never goes away,!!!
good nite every one!
