Yes it is hard for me sometimes as well here are couple of tips
1) Reflect and read the Quran = words of your Creator
2) Think about death and how short this life is. Compare this life to the hereafter
3) Befriend good Muslims who pray and encourage you to pray or maybe call you for fajr.
4) Supplicate to God to help you accomplish the 5 daily prayers. Know what you are saying in your prayers.
Make Dua for me brother...May Allah reward you

I try my best to. I'm not motivated by the fear of punishment, but rather, I see it as taking the time for myself to be with God.
And if it wasn't structured five times a day, I'd never get it done. I think that it's great that, if you're talking about Muslims, that you have to pray once early morning to start your day off right, thinking about God, then you are free till early afternoon, so you can be productive in the morning without your routine being disrupted. And I also think it's great that you also have a prayer time at night because you are ending your day thinking about God.
If you pray because you are afraid of hellfire, then you are doing something to avoid a bad thing rather than doing something that will bring you benefits.
I do it well, first off because it's required, but my main motivation is because I love God and this is one way I can show my appreciation for what I have from Him and also to ask for guidance and comfort. Sure, it would be way easier if I didn't have to do it so many times a day, but no one ever said that being a spiritual person is easy.
I think that once I get myself organized to be able to meditate fully on what I'm praying about instead of just going through the motions, that I'll enjoy prayer that much more.
I think if you really examine what you feel when it does come to prayer time, you might discover why you have a hard time with it. Some people don't like routine. Perhaps you haven't discovered the benefits of talking to God. Remember, this is the way you are spending time with the most wonderful person in the world, and although millions are praying to him at any given time, He hears your voice, and he sees your heart and He knows how difficult it is for you, so when you do pray, He will appreciate the effort, even more so if you make the effort to do it regularly.

I would not say I am an extremely religious person in that I don't go to church regularly, maybe 2-3 times a year, and I can't remember the last time I picked up the bible. (I'm Christian). However I do believe in God whole-heartedly and I pray at least five times a day but I'm sire its more. But I consider even just talking to God praying. I often talk to God. Asking him to watch over me, watch over my driving, bless my family/friends, Bless the stupid idiot who just cut me off, etc. All day I find myself thanking Him for something or asking for something, though I try to keep that to a minimum. The fact that every day is a blessing and a celebration of life keeps me motivated. We often forget how special we are, how special life is and what a true blessing it is to have what we have even if it is just a half a piece day old bread and a cup of water. I think just talking to God is praying therefore I often do. But I'm not perfect and there are times when I get too wrapped up in myself and what I need to do to stop and talk to God. Then I feel guilty and try to get back on track! God Bless!

Well I'm guessing your talking about the required muslim prayers 5 times a day, in which case no I don't but then I'm not muslim. However my husband is and he does pray 5 times a day except on occaision when he misses the prayer in which case he still makes it up. I can't say for certain what keeps him motivated but from what he's said and also from what I know about him I think he prays because it's a requirement for him and he want's to please god and save himself from the hellfire. He also prays to god alot to help in being a better father, a better muslim, a better husband, and a better person in general. He also thanks god everyday for all the things god has already given him and done for him. I think the prayer is very important for him and it gives him a sense of religious fullfilment. It's a way for him to release the tensions of the day and regain hope for the future. He also went through a period in his life when he hardly prayed even on Fridays he would rarely go to mosque. I think sometimes people lose themselves before they find themselves again. I bet if you really want to do it you will eventually pull yourself out of your slump.

Hello, Mustafa! Everyone has a hard time sometimes.
The bible tells us to pray without ceasing. A prayer doesn't have to be specific-it can even be just one line!
I pray all the time. I will give you some examples of why:
1. I see a person who looks like they are sad or depressed. I ask God to give them whatever help they need to find happiness.
2. Something good happens to me, or I realize how lucky I am. I thank God for giving me something, taking care of me, or saving me from harm.
3. When I see a non-believer. I pray that God will make that person more open to His love and that he will help me to find the right words to say to help them.
4. When I learn a lesson. When I find out I'm not as smart or perfect as I thought I was. I thank God for showing me that I'm not perfect and that I should never stop seeking his wisdom.
5. Whenever I hear a siren, or hear about a natural disaster. Those people need your prayers immediately, and every prayer helps.
6. When I catch myself being jealous of someone, or angry with someone. I ask God to help me to maintain my Christian attitude.
7. Sometimes, I just ask for Him to show me His love, to give me strength, so that I can help people with whatever they need.
There are so many things to pray about all the time. I hope this helps!

What keeps me motivated is, we all know what is going to happen the Bible tells us. When I see such terrible and painful things happening in the World, I have to ask God for the strength to endure, and help me make it through another day. Its the only way I can live in this world, and keep going. And it works.

Try to mean it and not pray thinking of other stuff and you'll see that some times you'll see that five times is not even enough.
Don't let you guilt feeling stop you though...
May god help you be the best you wish.

i don't. but muslims do...
however, muslims in my place like to take the opportunity of praying time. they claimed they go to pray, but in truth is, they sleep in the praying room. or they say they want to pray, but go somewhere else... making other people wait and wait and wait for them. really annoying!!!
hope God punish these lazy people.
