when u scan a paper or photo u will be shown a preview before u can save the scanned photo, at that moment u can use the guidelines in adjusting the scan area, u can change the lenght and breath of the scanned file, after adjusting to ur desired area click on save. by default it will store in mydocuments/myscans.
