God is God... neither male or female. God created male and female for companionship.. God has no needs like the creation does.

The One, or all is the all encompassing unity of all things which exist. This includes that which is manifest to our limited awareness and understanding as well as that which is not. The One is infinite to a point that the human mind simply cannot comprehend its vastness.
Because we cannot understand something so vast, and because most things have some sort of polarity, the One separates into two entities, The Goddess and the God.
The Goddess and God are seen as a manifestation of the feminine and masculine forces of nature. Each having unique characteristics that when combined result in the harmonious creation of life.
We see examples of this in everything around us as nothing can exist without the interaction of feminine and masculine energy. This creative energy is omnipresent. They are concepts that allow the human mind to comprehed the creative force of the world around us.
Giving name to the divine or feminine and masculine energies is in many ways irrevalent and certainly cannot justify the wars and bloodshed history has seen because of it. They are simply names humanity, a culture or specific belief system has created over time for association purposes.
It really matters little whether we associate with the divine as the "Father, Son and Holy Ghost" or "The One, Goddess and God." Ultimately, the concept is the same.

God is spirit & is neither male or female! Just like angels are spirit with less power than God. When christians are born again & in Gods Kingdom they will also be spirit & no longer male or female so they won't be getting married anymore. Read Matt 22:23-30.

Males and females are characterized by their genitalia (as well as other gender-specific organs) and hormones. These are basically designed for sex.
As far as I know, most religions don't require God to need companionship so I think it's a moot point. After all why would God have a penis or vagina if there is no one on their level to have sex with? (Let's not even think of the offspring...)

It isn't a matter of polling people to find out, but through Bible study, (formal and informal) we are taught that God was written about as a He, Him, His and Father which are male references.
But, God is not a person. He is an almighty being that is not in human form. That is why He sent His son, Jesus, to earth in order to walk among us as His messenger of Peace.
Our God is not a man or woman, but it will be glorious to see Jesus, the man in heaven.

depends on which god you are referring to:
The Christians seem to think their god is male, as do the muslims and the judes (also seems to be the same god for all three). Hindus have several gods of different gender. Asa tru also have several gods and godesses, Wiccan have (I think, please correct me if wrong) one god with both a male and a female aspects - the female, mother, aspect being the one primarily worshiped. If you choose to believe in a creating god, I would think it logical to believe that that god was female, as it is from the female that new life are born. *shrugs*

Personally, I don't believe in God one bit but people refer to him as "The father" and he supposedly impregnated a woman so he has to be male...but a god is a god not a man nor a woman.
