Yes, we could live in an atmosphere of 100% oxygen, however, that environment would not exist as our bodies are continually producing byproducts of metabolism such as carbon dioxide. Eventually, we (and all other living organisms) would deplete some of the oxygen and replace it with carbon dioxide, while plants would be using some of the carbon dioxide and expirating oxygen. The system would return to homeostatis (balance) eventually.
And, to correct a couple of statements made above...
1. The atmosphere is 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen (ok, 20.8% - I'm rounding) and 1% all other gases.
2. Oxygen does NOT burn. It is a required component of combustion, which means that a higher concentration of oxygen makes everything around it burn much more easily.
3. 100% oxygen will harm only a small percentage of the population - those suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and they'd have to be exposed to it for a long period of time - a few days, perhaps. The rest of us would do just fine in 100% oxygen.

Except for the fact that everything would be bursting into flame because oxygen is combustible... Yes, we could survive, oxygen is the only component of the air we use, but pure oxygen produces feelings of exreme calm, kind of like being high. So we could survive breathing it, we just wouldn't be a very successful species.

remember we DO NOT put pure oxygen in the mouths of people in hospital - that is a mixture of gases and oxygen is a lot less than 40%. 40% oxygen would cause instant burn of breathe organs and 40% oxygen in the air would transform the atmosphere in an explosive mixture (enough to put a spark in it..it would blow out)

Good question. Here's my thought on it.
You will still live. However, you will probably live shorter. Here's my reasoning. The processing of Oxygen by our bodies leads to molecules called free radicals. Free radicals damage cells and cause aging (at least partly). Your body has mechanisms of getting rid of these radicals, but if you have alot of them around, you will deplete your supply of these scavengers.
Obviously, this is not the entire answer, otherwise we would know how to make people live forever-simply provide an endless supply of scavenger molecules.

u mean if O2 are available and not other gasses???
weird ques dude.
Btw, the oxygen supplied in the hospital isnt 100% pure oxygen. if so, it will lead to death. Our body require Co2- carbon dioxyde to stimulate the respiratory centre in the brain.

isnt there oxygen around us already? well i think too much of it would also kill us.
too much of something is really not good ... we have to maintain homeostasis :) balance
