To me, being a Pagan means cherishing all of creation as sacred. It means honoring one another as extensions of the divine, and as such, embracing our own role as co-creators in the majesty of life.
Since there are different branches of Paganism, much as there are different branches of other religions, such as Christianity, I can only speak for myself here and what I believe.
Paganism is more than "worshiping the creation and not the creator" as someone above stated, it is coming to the realization that there is no separation between the two. The creation is a reflection of the creator, and the creator can be found reflected within the creation. Pagans honor and revere nature as one of the many faces of the divine.
It is unfortunate that the term "Pagan" has been shrouded in so much negativity and misconception. True Paganism, as it exists today in my experience, is a truly peaceful and life affirming path.

Means to me, Not to worship any other, than God Our Father.
The Biblical definition of Paganism stated in Romans 1:25:
Pagan: Is those who change the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature satan more than GOD the Creator, who is blessed for ever.
By the third century CE, its meaning evolved to include all Non-Christians. Eventually, it became an evil term that implied the possibility of Satan worship.

To clear the air here, I want to say that I disagree with people that think a Pagan is someone who is not Christian/Jewish/Muslim. Paganism to me is a specific religion. Anyway, to my meaning.

Being a Pagan is appreciating the sunrise as sacred, and as a new beginning. Being Pagan is knowing that you're never alone; Mother Nature and her creations are always with you. Being Pagan is realizing that peace inside yourself isn't hard to find, it's everywhere you want it to be. To inhale the whispers of the trees, to be able to appreciate the simplicity of laughing children, to be able to put your bare feet in a running stream and know you are a part of something...that's being Pagan.

No, that's not a quote and yes I'm feeling poetic right now. God, I almost made myself cry.

To me, Paganism is the religions of Europe before Christianity came along. They could either worship the Norse or ancient Greek or Roman Gods, Pan, etc.

When I refer to myself as a pagan, I usually mean neo-pagan. To me, a neo-pagan is someone who is a polytheist (one who worships more than one deity).
