The city is evil or something, like Sodom and Gomorrah in the Bible. They just get settled, and they go right back to crime and killing. Maybe God flooded it intentionally. I'm not really religious, but you must admit the irony of one of the nastiest cities in the US getting flooded like that. Why is the murder rate going up, up, and away? I'll totally crack up if it gets flooded again!

Nothing is going on there anymore than New York or Chicago you just hear more about it because of Katrina. I do not think it would be very funny if it flooded again people dying is not a laughing matter.

I do not believe that it was one of the nastiest cities but one of the most vital shipping ports in the country. I also do not judge other people I believe that is between them and God!!

It is a prime example of what happens when an area has a societal break down. It's all about me. To heck with you. Where is mine? Who is going to look after me? Rather than getting up off their butts and doing what is right, with a bit of initiative and living by the Golden Rule.

In a large part the people of New Orleans fell for the victim mentality and were used by the news media and the political left as a attempt to make George Bush into a failure.

Look at how many other areas have had equal or greater storms and damages and have moved on without all the hoopla.

I would be embarrassed.

Your assumptions are flawed. The crime is bad but no worse than before. Much of the city is recovering or has already recovered. I also think it is shameless and very un-Christian to laugh at another's misfortune.

New Orleans is one of the oldest cities in the country with a history, culture and heritage that is virtually without equal in the US. It's importance to the country, past and present, can hardly be measured. If you or others cannot appreciate the dichotomy that is New Orleans, that is your choice.

Good luck!
