I would have to say it is letting Christian Dominionists take over the government.

It's been said before, but I have to answer: PRIDE/Arrogance.
- the worst sin for either an individual or nation...
- the sin ignores both God and Fellow Man/Woman...
- the sin that opens the door to all others...
and:
- the sin that DESTROYS an individual or nation...
It's enough to make you weep. So many other nations lie rusting away on the Scrapheap of History: Are We Next?

Taking the Lord's Name in Vain:
One Nation, Under God.
Remember, Catholic, every state allows for arbitary divorce.
Most states and the U.S. allows for exeuctions.
Abortion is legal almost everywhere.
We make war, invade countries and drop the A Bomb.
One Nation, UNDER GOD
(If the US does 4 stations at the cross are we forgiven and can continue to execute, make war, do abortions and grant divorces?)

We are guilty of the worst sin short of murder...greed.
Greed has torn us apart from our families, jobs, friends and ourselves. God does not condone this behavior, since He has assured us that we would be taken care of in life.
Greed and waste has made us the enemy to most Asian countries who strive for humility and simplicity. Can you blame them?
Who in their right mind spends $50,000 for a SUV that looks like a truck, just to go grocery shopping? Who spends $300 on a kid's bike? Who needs 6 cell phones and 6 cars in the driveway, while homeless people walk the streets?
Only Americans could be guilty of this crime/sin.

I would have to say, causing planes to crash into buildings in New York and attacking ourselves to start a war with another country.
This is a fairly common occurance throughout history of war tactics.
(After reading responses up till now, I noticed that not one person said homosexuality. Thank you)

I think you picked some good ones. To be honest, I think US has committed ALL the sins, shows no sign of repentance or change, and arent looking for forgivness. Very Bad.

As a fellow Catholic American, I believe with all my heart that the biggest sin our country has committed is legalizing abortion.
Its time the slaughter of the innocents stopped---and i'm willing to do whatever i can to help overturn roe v wade.
write your senators and congressmen! write the president! engage in protests! march! but most of all, pray!

Agree with you. For me at this moment the biggest sin is fighting a nonsense war with no end.

I would say that it's a tie between legalizing the killing of unborn children and the removal or prayer and Bible study from our schools since those seem to be related to the two great commandments about loving God and our neighbor as ourselves. :o(
I wonder if this nation would have already fallen under judgment if it wasn't for the faithful remnant of praying believers who live here.
"And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked? Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein? That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes. And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes: Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it. And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for forty's sake. And he said unto him, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: Peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there. And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for twenty's sake. And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake. Genesis 18:23-32
