Are you referring to backscatter X-ray imaging? A really, really low dose X-ray is bounced off the person and imaged by a computer. It "sees through" clothing but bounces off of any solid object beneath.

It is impressive how much detail they show. I mean you could count up a quarter, a nickel, and two pennies = 32 cents in the guys pocket; see the gun on his shin and the ceramic knive taped between his shoulder blades in the demo shot I saw.

They fuzzed out the genitals and you couldn't make out body hair, but you could see whether a guy had "man boobs" or not, etc. A women's cup size would be easy to estimate as would a guy's endowment.

When I last read up on it, it was only in two US airports, only on a voluntary basis and only the same gender screener would look at your image.

What is my take on it? It is probably in use in more places than is acknowledged.

Personally? If someone gets off on seeing a grainy black&white image of my body, fine. I mean, lots of people have seen the real thing on beaches, in hot tubs, etc.

I think there should never be a recording device attached to it. Just like a cop's eye's - if the screener SEES something, they should act, pat-down, etc. That will yield plenty of evidence for the trial. Realistically, through, any facility which is that security-minded or paranoid WILL hook up a video recorder. So some idiot will leak the images of celebraties or politicians they don't like, etc.

Remember the scene in "Total Recall" when Arnold passed throught such a scanner ... it would be okay if it went to the bones, but not the flesh details. However, on a broader scope, hasn't this all gone a bit too far! Just because a few idiots are around, the whole population has to sacrifice their personal integrity.

Scans for chemical and metals is acceptable, but lets not go crazy or you may have a real pervert applying for "security" detail.

This crap must stop! We shall protest. It's an invasion of privacy. There must be a better way we can prevent attacks. I'm very upset that such things like this is being done. It's so wrong.

Does the f**king constitution exist anymore?

I wouldn't like it. It is an invasion of privacy and I don't think it's the only way to go.
