When was the last time you gave Him one hour of your day? Why not everyday? And if you do how do you spend that hour?

I have spent my day in many ways. I spent the hours from 12:00am to 6:00am caring for Christ in the sick and elderly at a nursing home, I spent an hour in Silent prayer and meditation with Christ in Eucharistic adooration, I spent another hour at Mass, and I have spent 45 minutes on the Rosary, as well as countless hours with my sons, praying with them, caring for them, praying for them and loving them. My family is my first ministry for Christ. And I have spent some time online trying to lighten and brighten anothers day.

Well, just because he said it, does not mean he is saying it to all Christians. The context was in the garden when they were told about his death. That does not mean we use it in the context you want!

Please use scripture correctly. You can use Paul's call to pray without ceasing and still be in context!

Paul tells us to die out daily to Christ. We should repent even for those sins we did not know we committed. The scripture also tells us that we should pray without ceasing. I've had some tell me this is impossible, but it's not. It's just tradition to close our eyes and bow our heads to pray. I've learned that I can talk to God or pray while I am driving down the road. I speak to him in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. I praise him continuously. I can even praise him for the opportunity to answer this question. What is our relationship with Christ about anyway. We were created to worship him. We were created for his good pleasure. Why limit yourself to one hour a day. We should praise him all the time. Beside that if we can't praise him for one hour a day or three hours a week how can we spend an eternity praising and worshiping him? Yes I do in fact praise him more then one hour a day.

Not formally, I guess. I try to see everything as service to Him. Really, I think that's the goal of Christianity - not that I shut myself off to serve Him, but that everything I do, say, think, and am is about Him.

Don't get me wrong, I'm far from there, but while I don't have an hour a day that I set aside and meditate or pray or study, I guess cumulatively I spend that each day. But more importantly, when I get my groceries I consider Him. When I do my laundry, I consider Him. When I plan my time, I consider Him.

I certainly have times in my life that are still very much all about me, but I want more of my life to be about Him. Even in the small things. Even the things that might not "count" to others as service and time with Him.

Everything we have and are is His. I think Christianity is about recognizing and honoring that in even the smallest of ways.

Great question!! Although I am ashamed to admit that I don't give him much time, not every day time. Makes me stop and think that I should give him praise EVERYDAY. But I do try to read the bible and study his words of wisdom. I know I should pray more than I do to. But I'm human and era to fail. I just take God for granted at times and I know I shouldn't. He deserves so much more. I thank him for being such a loving and patient God. Isn't he just wonderful.

I give him time every day. I spend it in prayer and meditation. Every day, yes.

When he asked his disciples that question, though, it was for numerous reasons. One, he was in pain and he wanted their company. Two, he was afraid. Three, he wished that they should pray also, so that when the time came, they would be prepared.

Because they fell asleep, they were unprepared. For example, Peter did not pray to the Father for the strength not to deny Christ, and so Peter--acting on Peter's meager steam, not God's massive strength--denied Christ.

When Jesus asked that, he was asking his friends for support and love. It may seem insane that God himself was asking for human support and love, but there you have it. It was also "insane" that God himself, for a second before death, doubted the existence of God. But there you have it.

Christianity "factors in" every conceivable human thought, feeling, and dilemma. Too bad the doubters cannot see how perfect and beautiful it is--only conceivable by a divine mind.

Oh well.

Well said. I hope that all who read this meditate on God's will for us and remember the sacrifice His son made for us on the cross.

You have certainly inspired me to spend more time in the word daily. My time in prayer is about an hour per day, but my bible time has slid.

God bless you always

There are oftentimes that I have not given Him an hour of my day, and my day is painfully empty because of that. One way I give him an hour of my day is by answering questions here in the "Religion and Spirituality" section. I don't always give the best answer, or sometimes probably not even the correct answer, but He knows I'm trying, and He gives me "the benefit of the doubt". I do thank Him for that. God Bless you.

I've got a book called Could You Not Tarry One Hour? I got it at a class at my church on prayer, the author's name is Larry Lea. As to your question, one hour a day is far too little for a disciple who wants to hear those words "Well done good and faithful servant!"

I give the Lord as much time as possible. I whisper prayers, talk to Him outloud, thank Him for things (even a good laugh when I needed one desperately), and read my Bible. There are days I'm sure I don't give Him an hour and that is a sad thing, isn't it, considering we give our computers hour after hour after hour.

I spend it trying to find all the answers to the questions that area frequently asked of Christians to try to prove my religion wrong...I did that last night actually. I stayed up till 3 am just trying to figure it out.
I also spend time telling God what He means to me and telling Him my problems...my life, my wants, my regrets and my fears...I know He's already seen all this in me, but it helps me if I confess it all to the one being who can do something about it. He's my father, savior and friend and I let Him know it and He let's me know how He feels towards me as well. That's how I spend my time with my creator.
