A year ago, my sister inlaw was molested. Her parents didn't believe her. So her brother and I called in social services. Here, today over a year later the verdict is in, he was charged with three accounts of Sexual misconduct with a child and accepted a plea bargain! He only got 200 days in Jail but he has to become a registered sex offender now as well plus pay a hefty fine. I am so HAPPY that something was done I had to shout it out to the world. 200 days isn't enough in my opinion but at least something was done! GOD BLESS OUR CHILDREN!!!!! I know parents out there understand where I am coming from! I have a 3 year old and one due in a couple weeks. I would do ANYTHING to protect them!

I agree 100%. I raise HOLY HELL with the judicial system and social services, for the first 4 months they let this little girl RESIDE in the SAME BUILDING as this man! We are doing ALL we can to help her any way we can. Yes of course she is going to be scarred for life. But I am so happy that at least our cries were loud enough for her so that it stopped! Its a horrible situation and we are trying to seek custody because Mom and Dad stood against her. It is going to be a long road, but we are fighting!

Thank God there was someone who believed the childs cry...I really do not understand our judicial system either, now had that child been an animal, he would have gotten more time for molesting it. And it really doesn't help the child whether the person goes to jail or not, because whether you see the reminants of what this did to her there are some there and will be. These types of situations dictates how we view males in our lives and how we as women view our body and what sex means to us---most of this is subconcious and often times children that have been molested, tend to molest as well. So I pray she is mentally okay and not be in any bondage from this situation.

The fact the offender was punished is wonderfull but being a father of two and having been through a similar case not with my kids but in my family I agree that I would do anything to protect my kids.

That I really agree with you, I just don't understand why those molester could even cease to exist in this world. Place believe in children is important as it a mutual bond that really counts.

Every day of my life. I was molested at 4 years of age by an uncle. He was considered "slow" and always got disability.
One day I was talking to one of my cousins and kind of blurted out what I think happened (I only remember a little bit about it). She didn't act a bit surprised. She said that was our family's "secret" and named a couple other cousins that he had messed with. I'm 47 now.
About 6 years ago, my son was 21 and was hanging out with some teenagers at the church he went to. I had no idead he was running around with a 14-year-old girl.
Well, he kept her out all night, her mother called me hysterical. I told her I was sure that my son would not hurt her daughter. She wanted the car license and said she was calling the police. I couldn't blame her. If it were my 15 year old son and visa versa I would be upset as well.
He dropped the girl off around 8 a.m. and then went to his grandparents home. I got there and my cousin (who was a deputy) had to remove himself from the case. When he did that, a detective took the case over and told the mother that the girl should be taken to the hospital to see if she had had sex. Age of consent in the state I live is 18. However, if you are 14 or whatever age and female, and you get pregnant, if the father is 50 years old, as long as the parents agree, they could get married and there is no crime considered. But my son had consensual sex with a minor. BIG mistake. If she had said he forced himself on her, he would have spent 15-20 years in jail, plus, if he had raped that girl forcibly, I would not blame any court for putting him in jail.
I got a private lawyer because my son was arrested (my cousin called and said to bring him down at a certain time), Had to go through the whole process. Took hours. Posted bond to keep him out of jail. Saw the lawyer the following Monday. Lawyer said he could not see the judge placing these felonies on my son since he had never even had a speeding ticket. He said he felt the judge would drop to a misdemeaner the charges. Said a lot of things but, basically, the judge threw the book at my son.
My son was wrong. The girl was only 14-15 and according to the law, she was too young to make that decision; however, she was not a virgin (but I know that's neither here nor there as far as my son's actions). I felt he should be punished, but what the court did to him was extreme. My son is now a convicted felon. A sexual offender. He has to register every year just like the guy who molests 10 year olds. He had to spend three years (at $45 a week) in pedophile counseling (she was 14-15). His whole future is ruined because of being an idiot one night. Of course there was restitution, counseling for the girl we paid for, any time the mother took off a day of work to come to court, court costs for everyone. Every three months he had to have a test where they put a device on a man's Pen**, then they show the man pictures of naked babies, girls, boys, young teenagers, older teenagers, young adults, etc. Then the next week, he had to take a lie-detector test about whether he was honest or not on his Penis test when he told them the naked babies did not turn him on sexually.
I could write a book (almost have here) to let people know that not every sexual offender that has to register is someone who molested a 3 year old. Some, like my son, are from letting the other head think for him, and was with a girl the law states too young to make that decision for herself.
I lost my virginity at the age of 14 (ironically), with a 24-year-old. He always had people around his house, partying, alcohol, and weed (this was in the 70's). One night I ended up in bed with him. I knew what I was doing and wanted to be doing it. More ironic is he is an attorney now with a family. I never told anything, but if I had, or if my parents found out I left my friend's house to go over to the party house, he sure wouldn't be a lawyer today. He'd be working in a factory trying to make ends meet with his wife and new son (which is a whole nother story because he is not suppose to be around children (even though she was 14-15, he cannot be around any children, 100 feet from a school, not be in a toy department in a store). We had to go to court for the judge to rule whether or not he could live in the same house as his wife and new baby boy. Even the judge told the proscecuting attorney he was getting ridiculous with his charges and rules against my son. He told the proscecuting attorney that my son was not charged with molesting a small child. It was statutory rape; however, the judge nor our lawyer opened their mouth about him being treated just like a pedophile in every other aspect of his punishment.
It's been a 5-year nightmare for me and the family. However, it will be a lifetime nightmare for my son. Also, if the girl was doing this with my son and didn't want to, if she had of said no he would have stopped. But, he should have never let it get that far. But this punishment by far is unfair.
So yeah, I've been wanting to scream out a lot for the last five years.
