Well .. LOL!

No I don't think I would blow off a guy for being "too tall", but I guess its different for every girl. I really couldn't tell you if the girl was just making an excuse or not but I know I wouldn't blow off someone because of that.

Hoped I helped at least a little!

I haven't turned a guy down because he was too tall, but having gone out with a guy who was 6'6" a couple of times, I gotta say that looking up all the time did create a pain in my neck (literally).

That being said, my bro and sis-in-law are 6'1" and 5'5", respectively, so it's a personal preference thing.

Just know that there are a lot of gals out there who are 5'10" and above who would probably LOVE to go out with a guy your height.

That's a little weird. My first boyfriend who I was with for 5 yrs was about 6'1" and I'm only 5'2".

How are you approaching them? I hope you're not doing the pick-up line thing. That's always a turn off for any girl... and trust me as you get older the pick-up lines become even cornier.

Try approaching them with an honest "hi how are you" or if you're at the beach "Say hi and ask her if she doesn't mind you sending her a drink from the bar" if she's with friends "Send them each a drink as well"

I am really short about 5ft tall. I have never turned down a guy for being to tall. ( I mean last year I had a bf that way 6'2, sweet, romantic, but in the end not work out, but it wasn't for his height) Height doesn't matter, (call me werid but) it's what inside that counts.

I've always loved tall guys, I'm 5'7..
But she could be telling you the truth and not trying to be mean.
She might feel uncomfortable aroudn a tall guys.
You could ask her again, and if she's snotty about it, then she's blowing you off....
