Tell her that you are doing your thing and not to get so uptight.
Tell her that it is very accepted and that it makes you feel more confident when you feel like you look your best.
Then, basically ignore her.It is after all YOUR hair.

If you're under 18, your mom pretty much owns you. She can't force you to style it someway you wouldn't like, but she can certainly keep you from styling it some outrageous way. Your mom is only trying to raise you to be a respectable citizen. Despite the old saying "never judge a book by its cover" appearances do say a lot about a person, and why ruin a great opportunity by going out w/ purple & orange hair in alternating spikes (for instance)?
It's your mom's house and she gets to have a say so in what kind of people are allowed inside, and if you look like trouble, then yes, she has the right to say, stay out.
If you're over 18 and wanting to change your hairstyle, then go for it. If mom kicks you out cuz you think you're an adult, then be an adult and get your own place and take care of your own rent and bills.
What would make your mom happy is for you to be the best person you can be. Don't be obstinate and defiant. Learn to compromise. Sit down w/ her and try to talk to her like an adult if you want her to view you as one. Good luck.

Mothers- Raises kids till around the age of 18.
Over her roof. Her rules.
If she has friends and is overly consious about her surrondings then she might be mad in the fact her other "motherly" friends wouldn't approve of such acts like dyeing hair.
Most mothers take in the fact that once their child starts dyeing their hair soon it will be a lip ring, nose ring, tattoo, Drugs.
I know drugs, a bit overly dramatic but mothers think such things. Best way to go about it is have a calm collective talk with "mother" and stay calm with either answer she gives. If she still says "no" accept it and bring it up a little later and perhaps let her have a little decision on what color you want your hair to be.
Hope this helps.
