I say no. Because if you take a while before you pay, employees or guards might come and tell you that you cannot open food products and eat them. They might give you the whole "You have to pay for that" routine even if you are going to pay it. Why go through the hassle? It's best not to, so I say no. But if you are that desperate for food and need to shop more, buy the food product first and then eat while you shop.

Wow, that is a really good question! I see people do this all the time and often wonder about the legality of it. Like would it be stealing because you haven't officially paid for it. I don't know about the legality, but I'll tell you my personal thoughts...I think it is fine as long as you pay for the merchandise (or cookies in this case) before leaving the store.

Technically you should pay then open. But many mothers will stand behind you if you ever get reprimanded for opening a box of cookies for your little cutie pie. Plus, you are not paying by the weight. It is a fixed price. Now if you were buying in bulk and ate one. Yeah, thats definitely a no no.

NO. This is some socially unacceptable behaviour that has been frequently popping up lately. I find opened packages throughout the grocery stores from people who will munch on something while shopping, then "conveniently" toss it aside.
Even if you ARE going to pay for it, have some common courtesy and play by the rules and resist the temptation. It's not yours to eat until you pay for it.
If your BABY is hungry, you're not caring for it properly by making it wait until mommy can go shopping. NO excuse there. Feed your kid FIRST, then go shopping.

It's not like you are going to give your baby some and put it back on the shelf is it.Take it from a mom with 3 kids.If your baby was hungry and your going to pay for it why not. It's not like you bought bread, turkey cheese, mayo and opened all of that to make a sandwich. It's just a snack.Your not stealing it.Your opening one item that you are buying to give to your child. If the clerk says you can't do that simply say why not im buying it.

I think it is ok, as long as you pay for an empty box or container, But I do know that most stores don't think it is ok. But who cares about that.. If your baby wants a snack and you pay... it should be ok!

I do this all the time, and I always see others doing it. The store don't mind as long as you pay for them. Now if you got a box and let your kid have a couple and put it back, then their might be problems. If your kid is hungry feed him/her, when your hungry you got to eat right?

You should pay for them first. As a responsible parent, you should have a snack for your baby at hand.

No problem,I think that they should have stuff sitting around to curb your animal instincts to tear into something, heck when I walk into Wal-mart,I gab a diet coke and go straight to the doughnuts and eat one, then when I check out I show them the paper and the coke, and pay.
