What's the deal? Okay What is the deal on immagrants and taxes? What's the deal on the welfare and healthcare handouts? In Nevada where I live my friend got fired from work cause she lost her work permit that led me to believe that you cannot work unless you are legal. Yet there are people on here saying they pay taxes and they are illegal. And Do the Illegals really get free health care and welfare and never pay it back? What are the facts? I think alot of people are being really mean to eachother and they really don't know all the facts. Does anyone who knows actual laws want to answer?

Some pay taxes on 'old' SS#s when they have overstayed a visa. Others pay (with many deductions) on stolen numbers. I saw a story about a woman who had more than a hundred illegals use her SS#, and she had terrible trouble with the IRS who came after her for taxes on their income.

Today I saw another story about an illegal being deported after multiple crimes, one of which was paying for a Mercedes with a forged check using stolen id and the credit of the person whose ID it was. People who are paying in SS on stolen IDs aren't doing anyone favors.

Purely in economic terms, the studies of the costs of illegal immigration generally net out those payments, however, and then come up with the huge costs you see in the press. Their cost in education and services far outweigh even what they would pay if they were all paying taxes, much less what the few who pay do pay. Furthermore, however much is in SS , it doesn't fund schools or health care where the biggest costs exist. It does explain one reason why the federal government, which is not the one that gets the costs, primarily, is lax at enforcement. Such benefit as there is goes to employers and to the federal government.

Good to hear from you again Sabrina. Whatever view poin you decide to look at the fact is that these illegal immigrants are consumers as well. They pay taxes in many other ways than just income tax. On the welfare issue, dont you have to be a legal U.S. citizen in order to qualify for welfare? How do illegal immigrants do it if all they want is to work and take care of their families getting paid less than minimum wage?

This is a fact Illegals do not get the SS numbers most of Illegals do no know about the SS because in Mexico SS is like health insurance here but is from the government everyone than has a job is cover by social security and goes to Dr, hospital etc cover by this program, so how they get the number to work here mmmmmmmmmmmmmm............. answer the people that hire need to do income taxes too so here is the put a number to Pedro Gonzales who get pay 180.00 a week gross deductions FT 30.00 SS 35.00 St 6.00 when John Smit does his taxes he claim that he pay SS( Pedro Gonzale) SS # any number $70.00 .
Pedro didnt know what happen to his 71.00 he is happy he send to his family 100.00.

I think your right....Their argument is that, illegals obtain false SS# and work illegally. Some illegals do pay taxes under false SS# and through 2002 illegals paid an estimated $463 billion into social security, their takeout, almost nothing....

Hospitals write off the cost of medical services of illegals....So they don't actually lose as much as people claim...

In my current job, YOU must provide a SS# and pass a drug and background check....

Angela R you idiot, when hospitals write off the bill they lose money, now suppose they write off thousands of bills a year? this is part of the reason that hospitals charge 10 bucks for a band-aid and seven bucks for a Tylenol.

I'll drive you around the shanty towns they live in, I'll take you to a few emergency rooms, I'll take you to the welfare offices, the social security offices, etc. I bet you will change your point of view.
