This is the original recipe, but I use half the brown sugar and substitute Splenda for the other half.

1 1/2 pounds dry kidney beans, soaked overnight (you can substitute with white beans, navey beans, etc)
1 pound bacon, diced
1 cup brown sugar
1 small onion, chopped
salt and pepper to taste
2 cups water, or as needed

Put in crockpot on high for 6-8 hours, low 10-12.

Crockpot Beans

3/4 lb. bacon, cooked, drained and crumbled
1 cup chopped onion
1 (16 oz.) can pork and beans, undrained
1 can red beans, drained
1 can great northern beans, drained
1 cup ketchup
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 Tbsp. liquid smoke
3 Tbsp. vinegar
salt and pepper

Put all ingredients in crockpot and stir well. Cover and cook on low for 4 - 6 hours.

You could probably cut down on the sugar in this recipe and still have lots of flavor from all of the other ingredients.

Put the beans in the crockpot with enough water to cover.. Add a can of rotel, couple pieces bacon, a clove or two of crushed or chopped garlic, chopped onion, about a cup, two or three teaspoons of chicken boullion, can of chopped green chiles, pinch of comino or cumin-same thing, salt, pepper, and sprinkle different herbs like basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary. Let it cook on low all day and when done, add a can of tomato sauce.
If you want it to cook faster, you have to soak the beans overnight or for a few hours first. Drain and rinse. Then put in the crockpot.
