You are all right! I've tried it all! Tried counseling and pshychiatrist...they said he had major anger issues, other than that he refused to open up.They also thought maybe he had been sexually abused. He refused to take anti depressant. He writes these rap songs that are impressive by the ryhme and context but are a little scarey sounding. We aren't giving him too much of a free ride. Just a roof and food. He does his own laundry, cooks for himself, works around the house for his dad.and grandmother who has rentals...painting and such. Just enough $$ to get by with his insurance and gas. He has a younger sister who has worked since she was 13 and just graduated w/ 2 yr degree and has been living on her own for over 2 years! We didn't treat him much different than her! I won't kick him out because I'm afraid of pushing him over the edge. He is not mean or hateful or angry to us, really rather submissive.

All I really want is for him to be happy and enjoy his life. Regardless of how he does it. I guess that is the main problem I feel he is sad, hurting, and just getting through each day however it works for him. I feel his spirit is crushed.

I would research personality disorders in reference to how they relate to this young man. From what you describe, there may be some developmental issues going on.

Check out this test and see what you think.

What do you want from this young man? or you child? if i can call him that. I mean people are different in the style of life they choose to live. Maybe this is the choice of his life...What he wants...how he wantes it...I don't see any psychological problems or personality disorders in the description you have wrote. Maybe you have to add why on the first place have you tried counselling and pscyhiatry ...what triggered you do to to a counsellor? Don't compare siblings together they are different and very different...they all chose different styles of life and different paths. I hope i was some help.
