I have a little longer than shoulder length dark to medium blonde hair. I went to a salon and had highlights and lowlights put in it. Now I'm wanting to dye it at home. I have a cool complexion but am afraid to use ash tones because it tends to turn my hair green.(ick!) But I don't want it to turn brassy or orange. I'm not sure whether to go lighter or darker. My hair is already kinda dry so I need a good product. I just had it cut so no split ends though. I'm really leaning towards a lighter blonde but not to light.

I think you sohould get it done in the salon again. Highlights and lowlights are very pretty if done well and its really hard to do it at home. Any blonde will dry your hair all the more, but if you get professional highlight, it will be less likely to cause optimum damage.

I think you should dye your hair darker and go brunette but still have some light brown highlights. I suggest you use dye from Target, they have a wide selection of hairdye with lots of brands. I recommend Loreal Paris dye because i use it and it doesnt dry my hair out at all, i actually ended up with softer hair than before with the help of the conditioner. Basically, you can use any brand as long as it comes with conditioner.
