My dog decided it would be fun to chew up my carpet while I wasn't home. She ripped it up all the way down to the cement underneath! My apartment complex doesn't know I have a dog so I need to fix this before they come in on Thursday for some maintenance work. Has anyone else ever had this problem, and if so, how did you repair your carpet? I don't have much money to spend but it has to be fixed. HELP!!!

FYI- I'm not a bad dog owner and she gets a good amount of exercise usually, but she got spayed the night before this incident and the vet told me to keep her in a small dark area like the bathroom for 24 hours. And she wasn't supposed to run, jump, or be outside for 7-9 days so it's not like I could take her for a walk or anything. So please stop leaving replies that make it seem like I'm the bad guy... I don't need you to insult me, I just need ideas on how to fix the carpet.

Lol I feel your pain. I've had a dog chew threw a wall and a door. And my current dog dug a hole in the wall in the corner of my kitchen. As far as fixing it goes... You may need to just cover it up with a rug to hide it. It may look weird but its not like the landlord or whoever is gonna be like "Well this is an odd place for a rug. Are you hiding something? I'm going to look under it!" So your probably okay there... Go to a carpet store, and buy the self adhesive carpet squares (with padding built in). They should know what this is.. Bring a sample of the current carpet so you can match the color as close as possible. It doesnt really have to be exact. You will need to purchase enough squares to cover the area of the hole. Then cut the current carpet so the square(s) will fit in place. Sit um'!! Lol Then rub the crease of the new and old carpet to blend, and vacuum. This SHOULD work.. Otherwise you may need to hire a professional, or you can lie about how the hole got there and see if the landlord can help as far as fixing it (not saying thatll be easy or free tho)
Good Luck!!!!!!!

YES, my black German Sheperd chewed a whole right in the middle of a week old carpet. What I did was this: I very carefully cut a column out of the carpet in line to where the hole was. Then I took the former ends and put them together right next to each other, using duct tape on the underside to hold them together. The cut edges, which were pretty straight, I now had on the outside edges, where the furnature goes anyway. it worked so well that when I moved I took my carpet with me, so It held up for four years, and I left it when I moved into a place where I didn't need carpet. If the carpet is wall to wall in a basement and you can't do the repair I did, get something to cover it like an area rug, and maybe even put something on top of that somehow, coffee table, something. I hopr this helps.

You may just try to cover it while they're there. I had the same problem But I knew a guy that installs carpet. They can do repairs pretty quick it's just a patch job. They get a matching carpet piece and fill it in. My carpet didn't have an exact match so he too a section from a small closet put the almost identical new piece in there and filled the patch in the room with the closet carpet. It was completely invisible. Ask around at a few carpet places it required some special equipment so you couldn't really do a good job yourself. Good luck

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aU7DL

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

How To Fix Carpet

Go to a carpeting store and ask if they have any "scrap" pieces of carpet that closely match yours. The scrap pieces are much cheaper. Stop by Home Depot, Lowe's or a hardware store and ask them about adhesive to glue down the carpet. Also, as soon as you can scrape together a few dollars, be honest with your complex about your pet and offer to make payments for a pet deposit.

if you can not watch them and trust them then put them in a crate when your not watching you can put some chew toys and so on in the crate with them! You can also do pet training but that does not always work for chewing my pup is a chewer and she has to be in a kennel/crate when we can not watch her she distroyed out bedroom carpet and put holes in our couch. We went and bought her a crate that is for dogs up to 160lbs and she is only 45lbs it is a wire crate its actauly her 3rd crate because she out grew the others. You could try takeing them for very long walks befor leaving that might help if they are tired they might not be so distructive we also found that bully sticks and pig hooves/cow hooves work good too you can get them at petsmart and so on. Our petsmart has a really good training program and you can sit in on a class for free so you might want to check your local petsmart and sit in on a class. Good luck!

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/gPKax

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

YES!!! I had the exact same thing happen to me! all the way down to the concrete! I lived in an apartment also. I think what I did was just have them take the cost of getting it fixed out of my security deposit, and needless to say the dog did not get to stay alone again!
