faith is believing without seeing. a knowing and accepting of what is to come or what can be.

do people really have it? yes

do we have it like long ago??, regretfully, no.
we live in a world that preaches non-belief.. daily we hear messages of doubt through TV, school, radio, pretty much everywhere we turn. I think it has a lot of bearing on us, without our even knowing the cost of just being around it.
as Christians we have learned compromise, in our homes and in our places of work and in the schools and even in our own churches.. just to not be bashed, and to remain politically correct... that too has a bearing on our faith. also, we are so rushed, that I bet the average Christian doesn't pray 5 minutes a day.
things have changed so much since biblical times

Sure people have faith today. Faith is belief without sight. It is knowing that God exists and that comes from having a relationship with Him. He is real.

Thank you for asking on this matter. Scripture teaches that faith is necessary for eternal life. No one will be saved without believing in Christ as Savior. Jesus says he is the only way to heaven (John 14:6). Paul says that we are saved by grace through FAITH (Ephesians 2:8).

This is where it can become confusing. In a sense we could say that faith does not save, only Christ saves. In other words, it is the object of faith that saves us, and the object of saving faith is Christ. There are people who believe in many different things. Some have a strong faith in these other gods or beliefs. But their faith will not save them.

It is not the essence of faith that saves but the object of faith--Christ.

And this faith in Christ is necessary because it is the way that we take what God offers us in Christ and make it our own. God offers us forgiveness through Christ. Through faith that forgiveness becomes our own person possession. God offers us eternal life through Christ. Through faith that eternal life becomes our personal possession. Through faith we take what God offers us just as we may take a birthday gift that someone offers us. It remains a gift. By taking it we don't earn it. But unless we take the gift, it won't do us any good. That's what saving faith is all about--taking what God offers us in Christ. This faith is a gift of the Holy Spirit, yet we are the ones who do the believing. The Holy Spirit does not believe for us.

The reason why I often stress the point that faith is a gift of God is because within Evangelical circles, faith can become a decision one makes. Christians want to guard against the idea that we can take even a small amount of credit for our salvation. Yet in stressing this point we also want to remember, "He that believes and is baptized will be saved, but he that does not believe will be condemned" (Mark 16:16). Not everyone will go to heaven. Only those who through faith believe that Jesus lived and died in their place.

To answer the second part of your question:

I am convinced from the Scripture that faith doesn't save because of its quantity or quality. That would be putting faith in faith (as if faith were some little work on our part to cooperate with Jesus in our salvation).

Faith saves--weak or strong, small or large--because it looks to the life, death, and resurrection of the Son of God in the place of all sinners of all time!

The hardest thing for a believer to believe is that he believes!
Fix your eyes on Jesus, not on your faith.

I have not seen it.....I am a nurse and recently a Christian family came to the ER with their elderly mother who had coded; she was very dead. For the next 5 hours they proceeded to loudly claim, "in the name of Jesus, I command you to rise." .....I am talking 5 hours of yelling at the top of their lungs....The charge nurse allowed them to continue out of respect, but the staff was visibly not at ease.

Needless to say, we sent her to the morgue and I was very sad because I felt like it put Christ to a foolish test.

I believe that these types of miracles are possible, but I know that if he is to do a miracle through you like with Peter, the Holy Spirit will let you know if and when the power will be there to do it....It should not be a circus led by foolish people.

Yes, I think that there are probably many people that have faith in their religion. I think that faith is a strong or even unshakeable conviction in whatever it is that you believe in.

Question the bible and you are putting your own existence in question. What is life for? In the end, everybody dies; nothing will remain.
