I don't think of them as religious because I am a Christian and I think of them as Holy - not just mere books - but without the Bible I would have no hope and then I enjoy hymns - they are portraits of someones life and I find they paint beautiful pictures of what Christ does for us and with us and through us. For in general growth and development, I enjoy Dr.Erwin Lutzer's writings from the Chicago Historical Moody Bible Church and the online bible study courses from christiancourses.com.

Sounds good to me. I also like the writings of Thomas Merton
and Henri Nouwen. I find "Intimacy With God", by Fr. Thomas Keating and "Practicing the Presence Of God", by Brother Lawrence, helpful. Of course, "My Imitation of Christ", by Thomas a Kempis, is a gem among gems.
