Kindly explain why too. So, maybe I could just stop my brothers from watching that show. I'm 16, so I have less reservation on shows now. Thanks much.

Hi!

I had a friend bar her daughter from watching "Teletubbies" because she said her daughter started talking like them (baby speak) instead of talking normally.

My stepson's mom barred him from watching any kind of Japanimation/anime cartoons because she felt they were too violent and/or too sensual for kids.

Of course- there are the adult cartoons like "Family Guy", "American Dad", "Tripping the Rift", etc.

;)
Personally- I have a thing against all cartoons for young kids...

--"The Flinstones" has a husband (Fred) who treats his wife horribly... he is always yelling at her and demanding dinner. How oppressive.
--"Scooby Doo" had a doped up guy (Shaggy) who talks to his dog and see ghosts.
--"The Smurfs" has one female (Smuffette) living with a 100 guys.
--"Bugs Bunny" has a guy with a gun running around shooting things. No gun safety there!
--In Disney's "Cinderella", Cindy was horribly abused by her stepmother and two stepsisters.
--In Disney's "Bambi", Bambi's mother is shot dead and Bambi is forced to live with his unsympathetic father.
--In Disney's "Snow White", the stepmother tries to get someone to cut Snow White's heart out, so Snow White has to flee her home and live with seven male small people. Then the stepmom ends up poisoning her anyways.

I could go on and on... (smile)...

Best Wishes...
T.

It's easier this way - we only let our children watch the simpsons, sponge bob, old cartoons (bugs bunny era) and history and discovery channel type shows. Most stuff on tv has no value and is damaging. Violent tv makes people violent and insenstive to the suffering of others.

AND ZERO COMMERCIALS. THAT'S THE WORST THING ON TV - THE COMMERCIALS. NO COMMERCIALS FOR THEIR TENDER BRAINS.

You can't expose kids to bad thing and then talk to them about it. The bad stuff hurts them now. It hurts them. You can't talk that away. Parents are way too lazy if they let their kids watch much on t.v. What a cop-out to say it exposes them to the real world. There is nothing remotely like the real world on tv. That's nothing but a neglectful parent talking.

Depends on the age of the child. My kids are 5 and 2 and other than the obvious no-no's I don't let them watch Dragon Tale's or Caillou. (My oldest whined continuously and I didn't know why until I watched those shows with him. All the characters do is whine about everything.) Just check the ratings that pop up on the top of your screen. Don't let them watch anything rated "R" or "MA" and you should be fine if you're dealing with a preteen child.

I alloy my kids to watch what they want. If you think about it there going to see everything in reallife as they do in the cartoons and other tv shows. Some shows are more violent than other but that's why you shoudl always talk to your children and let them know they can come to you if there is a problem instead of them trying to act something out that they see on tv.
