According to the folks who came up with the whole Circadian rhythm thing, most people's peak hours of mental productivity are from 8-10 or 11 am, and then again from about 4-6--but it varies to some extent from person to person. Which is not to say that you should not be able to do it any other time.

Individual physiologies can vary -- especially since we all have different eating habits, sleep cycles, etc. But if we want to generalize, studies show that peak times for most students are mid-morning, sometime between 9:00 and noon. Your second peak depends very much on the individual -- shortly after a healthy meal (lunch or dinner, but _healthy_ being the key), if a person engages in a small amount of exercise, the body and mind can reach another peak. If we're looking for a good time to do homework: eat dinner, raise your heartrate for at least five minutes shortly afterward, take a few minutes break after that (being sure to hydrate yourself), and hit the books.

Before 4 P.M. or after 5. Evolution has set in our brains that we should be taking a nap at this time. It is the second highest time period for on the job injuries, with 4 A.M. being first. With my daughter were teenagers, I found it worked best that they had a snack upon arriving home and taking a 30-minute nap. They were than fresh and doing homework went faster and was less stressful. I had hot chocolate (Winter) or milk, and fresh baked cookies ready for them. The warm cookies made them sleepy, even as teenagers.

During class was always best for me to do it because it just made you do it. When you come home from school I suggest taking a 2 hour break from everything so your mind would relax so I would say the best time would be after dinner when you have all the energy so your brain would work well.

I talk to my students about this all the time. It is a common question. My advice: after getting home from school, eat a light snack, drink some water(not soda), and relax for about a half hour. After the stimulation of a school day, your mind and body needs to wind down. Don't play video games, drink caffeine, or eat sugary sweets. Relax on the couch, talk on the phone, listen to music. Once your brain is settled down, you will be able to concentrate on your homework and get it done much faster. It's all about knowing how your body works. My students have told me this really helped them get to work and keep working until they are done. After that, eat a good dinner, play video games, skate with friends. Whatever!

In my opinion I think you should do your school work as soon as you come back from school. And I also think you can do your schoolwork more nicely in morning after or before taking breakfast because in morning after doing your daily activities you will become fresh and you can concentrate your mind in schoolwork.
Thank you!

During class, if you are allowed to, while it is still fresh in your head. Taking a nap before hand is ok, too, because you wake up feeling fresh and capable of studying. Or, last but not least, early evening before dinner because once you eat, you'll want to do something other than study.....I did...all of the time...would fall asleep..

Try to finish as much of it as you can during class, then do it like at 5:00 after you take a break!
