I'm a Firefox fan, but unfortunately, the advice here about it being the fastest out there is flat out wrong. Internet Explorer, believe it or not, loads most pages faster than Firefox. And on the types of pages that Firefox excels, it's at about the same pace or just a hair faster than IE. Also, you should consider that there are many browsers out there like Firefox that aren't compatible with every webpage. Firefox is about the best alternative to IE, but there are still some pages it can't load correctly. As Firefox continues full steam ahead and gathering a larger customer base, more website administrators will make sure their pages are 100% compatible.

However, the real interest that a lot of people have in Firefox are the features. My favorite is the "tab" browsing feature that makes it easy to switch between multiple web pages that you have open..

I can hardly believe you have a 100 mb connection but, Internet Explorer is as good as any, the problems people have with browsers are created by the people! Most people are absolutely internet illiterate! They dont realize that file sharing on the net is dangerous! They go about downloading music, porn, online games and a plethora of other crap and infect their browser. I get a chuckle when someone downloads a so called browser helper thinking it will speed their browsing up...lol.....the only people that gain by these are the people you downloaded it from. As some people state here, firefox is fast but only due to the fact that there is no where near as much adware written for it, give it time tho........my I.E. runs every bit as fast but then again I have learned in the last 15 years what to do and what not to do.

Firefox is considered to be better than IE because of its strong security system. However, there are some drawbacks to using Firefox. First of all, it takes a lot of memory to install into your hard drive than IE. The developers of Firefox claims that the large amount of memory that it consumes allows the software to process data faster than IE. Second, Firefox takes more time to launch than other browsers such as IE or Opera. Lastly, Firefox does not provide an MSI package. The absence of this feature makes it difficult to rapidly distribute the browser on large networks (as in a corporate setting), and is cited frequently as an obstacle to the wide adoption of the browser in professional work groups. In conclusion, if you don't mind those setbacks, then Firefox is better browser to use than IE.

Two items not mentioned:

1. If the page is using ActiveX, you will run into issues with Firefox.

2. Firefox is more customizable than IE and there are certain tweaks you can do which may impact performance.
